•A disaster is a natural or man-made hazard resulting in an event of substantial extent causing significant physical damage or destruction, loss of life, or drastic change to the environment.• One must remain fully prepared to deal with disaster at any time.

• A DISASTER KIT and knowledge of

EMERGENCY NUMBERS is the first and basic step towards this.

1.) WATER – One must carry a sufficient backup of drinking water. (1 gallon per person per day)

2.)FLASH LIGHT – A powerful flashlight with a backup of batteries is also necessary.

3.)TRANSISTOR - A small, battery-operated radio is important to monitor the events, during and after the disaster.

4.)FOOD - Pack food that will last for at least 3 to 7 days. Avoid food that makes you thirsty.

5.)BLANKET - If you live in a cold climate, you must think about warmth. It is possible that you will not have heat. Think about your clothing and bedding supplies.

6.) ROPES – ROPES CAN PROVE VERY HELPFUL IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS.

7.) MULTI-PURPOSE KNIFE

8.) CLOTHING - sturdy shoes, hats, gloves, etc.

9.) MEDICAL KIT –GAUGES, ANTISEPTICS, ETC.

9.) HYGIENE KIT –PAPER SOAP, SANITARY NAPKINS, TOOTHBRUSHES, ETC.
