To the Church in Ephesus
1To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: The wordsof him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who
walks among the seven golden lampstands. 2 I know your
works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how youcannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those
who call themselves apostles and are not, and found themto be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing
up for my names sake, and you have not grown weary.4
ButI have this against you, that you have abandoned the loveyou had at first.
7/28/2019 Discipleship Presentation
31/62
5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to youand remove your lampstand from its place, unless yourepent. 6 Yet this you have: you hate the works of the
Nicolaitans, which I also hate. 7 He who has an ear, let himhear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one whoconquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in theparadise of God.

- Or why not expand the membership of core groups?
Honest, self-disclosing andconfessional relationships that
give the Holy Spirit permission toremake us.
Intimate, accountablerelationships with other believers
is the foundation for growing indiscipleship.
It is easier to honor a covenant forconfidentiality within small
groups.
2) Relational Vulnerability

- Or why not expand the membership of core groups?
study of Gods word within thecontext of transparent relationships(direct application to members reallife experiences not other peoples)
as people open their lives to oneanother around the truth of God's
Word, the Lord begins to rebuildtheir lives from the inside out
focus on what the group member(not how others) can change.

Q:Will the existing core fellowshipgroups disband?
A: No, core groups will meet as usual, new small groups
will meet at another schedule at the leaders and membersconvenience, so new leaders can continue to meet withtheir core groups.
7/28/2019 Discipleship Presentation
50/62
Q: There are other qualified individualsin church, why not tap them?
A: The concept of accountability works to make sure that
all have an up-line before they start a down-line. This is toensure that all leaders are taken cared of by someone elsebefore and while they look after new disciples. (All coregroups have been assigned to the accountability of thepastors. Core group members are also assumed to have co-accountability. )
An up-line helps secure the emotional and spiritual healthof a disciple who is already leading / discipling anothergroup.
7/28/2019 Discipleship Presentation
51/62
Q:What if a core group member couldnot commit yet to lead a new group?
A: He may first try to host during the 6-week bridging
campaign. 40 Days of Love is a short 6-week commitmentwhich does not require so much theological knowledge.
There is a pre-campaign study of 40 Days of Love withinthe core groups to prepare the new leader for the church-
wide campaign. There will be intensive leadership training in November for
the longer term Discipleship Program, if one so decides tocommit to the long-term program.
7/28/2019 Discipleship Presentation
52/62
Q:Why conduct a church wide campaign? A:The Good Shepherd showed us to look after every sheep
that is outside of the fold. We, as a church, have to bringthem back in before nightfall.
We have the resources of 50+ core group members and canconveniently divide among them the responsibility ofaccounting for the others who have not been part of core
groups. It is also the churchs responsibility to make disciple-
making disciples out of every member. Every active coregroup member should be convinced of and enabled to
fulfill his responsibility to make disciples.
