Cubs DenAges 3 ½ – 5 ½ (entering Kindergarten) June 26 – August 4

Full Day / 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. $420 per week (2-week minimum)

Half Day / 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. $295 per week (2-week minimum)

Our youngest campers will enjoy a summer full of fun and excitement that has been thoughtfully designed for children ages 3 ½–5 ½. Our 1:4 staff to camper ratio allows our counselors and leaders to adjust activities daily to accommodate the interests of campers in each den. Cubs will experience a variety of exciting activities on Park’s beautiful 100-acre campus, both indoors and out.

A typical day for Cubs includes swim lessons and free swim in our learning pool, guided stream walks with critter identification, nature sample collection for projects – and sharing – games led by Park’s Challenge Course staff, and outdoor play time on developmentally-designed playgrounds and courtyards. Indoor activities include arts and crafts projects, cooking, music, and games. Cubs will have 30 minutes of recess and 30 minutes of rest time every day.

Always one of the most popular activities of the day, swim lessons are taught by certified lifeguards with assistance from den leaders and counselors. Cubs are divided into groups based on age and skill level, progressing from the learning pool to the big pool when ready.

In addition to the daily activities (mentioned above) guided by our excellent camp leaders and counselors, Park faculty and activity guests enrich the camp experience by offering hour-long workshops each day in a variety of special programs, including puppet making, Chinese language and culture, West African culture, Latino culture, robotics, group art projects, singing, dancing, and much more.

Our experienced staff welcomes children ages 3 ½–12 for an exciting summer full of adventures. Campers are grouped by age into “dens” that feature a 1:4 staff to camper ratio, which allows our staff to adjust activities to suit the interests and needs of individual campers, who enjoy a variety of activities on Park’s beautiful 100-acre campus, both indoors and out.

In addition to excellent camp leaders and counselors, Park faculty and special guests enrich the campers’ experience with unique programs offered throughout the summer. During weeks one and two (June 26 to July 7), campers will spend an hour each day immersed in theater and puppetry with Beale Street Puppets, learning to make different styles of puppets over the course of two weeks. In weeks three and four (July 10 to July 21), ideas come to life in Tinkering, Robotics, and Engineering, where campers will spend an hour each day building, playing games, and creating programs to explore machines and structures. During weeks five and six (July 24 to August 4) campers will spend an hour each day focused on music and movement, learning new songs for sing-alongs, discovering how to make music using Boomwhackers® and other small instruments, and participating in dance activities.

Campers will also immerse themselves in different Cultural Exploration programs throughout the summer, focusing on Latino culture during weeks one and two, Chinese culture and language during weeks three and four, and West African culture during weeks five and six. Cultural Explorations are hour-long sessions each day in addition to daily camp activities.

Bears DenAges 6 – 8 June 26 – August 4 / 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. $420 per week (2-week minimum)

Campers in the Bears Den will experience a summer full of adventure and fun, focusing on guided independence and responsibility, and building social skills. Our 1:4 staff to camper ratio allows counselors and leaders flexibility in planning daily activities to accommodate the skills and interests of campers in each den. Bears participate in a variety of activities across Park’s beautiful 100-acre campus, both indoors and out, while forming lasting friendships with fellow den-mates.

A typical day for Bears includes swim lessons and free swim in our pool, stream exploration with greater attention to natural communities, tending to the Lower School garden, and burning off energy outdoors on our playgrounds, courtyards, and fields. Outside on the Appalachian Challenge Course, Bears will participate in activities focusing on teamwork, group problem solving, and goal setting. Indoor activities include more detailed short (and long) term arts and crafts projects, cooking, music, and games. Each day, campers pick an activity of their preference during “choosing time.”

Bruins DenAges 9 – 12 June 26 – August 4 / 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. $420 per week (2-week minimum)

Summer for the Bruins will be exciting, empowering, and inspiring. Campers will place a greater focus on pursuing projects of personal interest, and creating lasting friendships that often continue long after summer camp ends. Our 1:4 staff to camper ratio allows counselors and leaders flexibility in planning daily activities to accommodate the skills and interests of campers in each den. Our oldest campers spend the mornings exploring projects and topics in greater depth, while experiencing a variety of activities on Park’s beautiful 100-acre campus in the afternoons, both indoors and out.

During the second half of the day, activities include adventures on the Appalachian Challenge Course, where the focus shifts to group problem solving through channels of communication, cooperation, and trust. Bruins will also swim in our pool, canoe on the pond, and burn off energy in outdoor games on our playgrounds, courtyards, and fields.
