gHOSTLY gOINgS-ON in Lancashire...PENDLE HILL AND SCULPTURE TRAILThe story of the Lancashire witches is one that still evokes intrigue and mystery over 400 years later, aided by the striking natural beauty and often shadowy presence of Pendle Hill. Climb to the top for stunning views or take a stroll through the nearby Pendle Sculpture Trail which includes tributes to the accused witches.

MURDER MYSTERY EVENINgStirk House Hotel (Lancashire’s small hotel of the year 2013) near Gisburn takes a lighter approach with a 1930s murder mystery evening on 4 Oct including overnight accommodation. The hotel’s remote location in the Bowland fells adds to the atmosphere.

NIgHT AT THE MUSEUMJoin Ghost Seekers at the British Commercial Vehicle Museum, Leyland from 8pm to 2am on 1 and 8 November to “experience” a night full of speculation and some surprises too. Not for the faint hearted.

gHOST WALkS gALOREDiscover tales of mystery and murder in some of Lancashire’s most haunted towns. Join The Blackpool Ghost Walk on weekends during Sepember and October or head to Clitheroe on a Friday evening for a regular ghost walk by Top Hat Tours.

Samlesbury hall’s most famous ghost is Lady Doretha, who is believed to have died of a broken heart after the love of her life was cruelly taken from her. See website for regular ghost story evenings and events at Samlesbury Hall during the autumn and winter.

towneley hall in Burnley is said to be haunted by several spirits including a Sir John Towneley who owned the house from 1473-1541, who is said to wander about the hall crying out ‘Be Warned! Lay out!’
