Philippians 3:3-21 In verse 3:6, Paul had every reason to have confidence in the flesh because of his status. Why would he so easily abandon it? What would that look like today? In verse 8, Paul prioritizes Jesus as he says that he, “suffered the loss of all things and counted them as rubbish, in order that he may gain Christ.” Why do you think Paul says this? As you focus more on Christ, how does your perspective on yourself and this world change? How do we practically find confidence in Christ? Read Philippians 3:12-16. What do you learn about spiritual progress and movement from these verses? What do you think Paul means by “pressing on?” Look at verses 20-21. How do these verses encourage you to continue to move forward to what lies ahead? When you think of the “Something More” that God has for you, what is one step that He may be asking you to take right now? BIG IDEA: Something more is a process, not a product. NEXT STEPS More! That is what God calls us to throughout the bible. He is calling us into more relationship, more obedience, more faith to step out, more living each moment with Jesus. Why is He doing that, because He has something more for us. More peace, more joy, more of His power and more life abundant. Take some time this week and surrender your own agenda and ask the Lord, “What is the ‘something more’ that You have for me?” Prayer Lord, thank you that You have called us to more. Help us to enter into the process that you have for each one of us and to follow Your lead as we take next steps toward all You have in store for us.

• In verse 3:6, Paul had every reason to have confidence in the flesh because of his status. Why would he so easily abandon it? What would that look like today?

• Why do you think we tend to arrive at a certain place spiritually and just settle there? Consider the statement, “good enough isn’t good enough anymore.” What is meant by this?

• In verse 8, Paul prioritizes Jesus as he says that he, “suffered the loss of all things and counted them as rubbish, in order that he may gain Christ.” Why do you think Paul says this? As you focus more on Christ, how does your perspective on yourself and this world change? How do we practically find confidence in Christ?

• Read Philippians 3:12-16. What do you learn about spiritual progress and movement from these verses? What do you think Paul means by “pressing on?”

BIG IDEA: Something more is a process, not a product.

NEXT STEPSMore! That is what God calls us to throughout the bible. He is calling us into more relationship, more obedience, more faith to step out, more living each moment with Jesus. Why is He doing that, because He has something more for us. More peace, more joy, more of His power and more life abundant. Take some time this week and surrender your own agenda and ask the Lord, “What is the ‘something more’ that You have for me?”

PrayerLord, thank you that You have called us to more. Help us to enter into the process that you have for each one of us and to follow Your lead as we take next steps toward all You have in store for us.
