Hello my Disney Ohana! My name is Chelsea Washington and welcome to the first edition of Disney XL. As you can see in my photo I’ve been a Disney fan for a long time! I love Disney so much I decided to base a magazine around it. My hope is that this magazine will inspire and empower adults to embrace their inner child. Because this magazine is intended for young adults there will be a ton of tips and deep articles that will take readers back to a place where they feel the most comfortable. In this issue I am extremely excited to introduce “The Evolution of a Princess: How Princesses Turned Powerful” as the feature story. I want people get a better understanding of this prolific topic that has touched us all. I also have fun news about upcoming movies, how to host a Disney themed dinner party and countdowns. This magazine is intended to be more “whistle while you work” rather than “bippity- boppity boo”. Just because you are an adult doesn’t mean you can’t use philosophies and lessons you learned from a Disney film and rule the pride lands!! Why Disney Sticks With Us

If you were born anytime in the 90’s, chances are you have seen at least one, most like multiple Disney mov-ies. These movies helped change the way people perceive different situations and life experiences. In most of these movies the princess falls in love with the prince, and they live “happily ever after.” With most little girls being called princess when we are little, we all wait for all prince charming to show up in a magical carriage with the big white stallions and flourished with crystals and diamonds. This sadly doesn’t happen for most girls, but they may experi-ence fairy tales in other ways. This article is going to be about why we loved Disney movies from an early age, and how they affect us later in life. Jessica Pope is a sophomore at Shippensburg University, and she has always had a love for Disney movies. So, typically, the first question she was asked was, “Why do you love Disney movies,” her response was as follows, “Dis-ney is magical, the parks, the movies, and the ideas. When I think back to my favorite movies as a kid, it is always Disney. Disney brings people together from all sorts that all believe in the magical world of Disney.” My next question for Jessica was, “What is your best memory involving Disney.” She answered with, “The first time I went to Disney we went with my cousin, mom, bros, and aunt. I was really young but remember being in love with all the princesses. It was a mission to get every character to sign my book.” When asked what Disney has taught her, she answered, “Disney has taught me to believe. Disney movies are full of so many great lessons, but I think believing is a big one. Another would be to follow your dreams.” When asked is she thought Disney was being passed to the next generations, Jessica replied, “Each generation still experiences the magic of Disney through movies, the park, stories, family members, and the Disney stores, etc. The magic will never die, because Disney is such a big deal.” The last question Jessica was asked was, “Do you prefer new Disney movies or old Disney movies?” Jessica replied, “I like both new and old Disney, but my favorite movie will always be Mary Poppins. But the new Frozen movie is awesome. I love that in Frozen, it was taught that a man didn’t need to be the rescuer.” The best way to end this article is from Walt Disney himself, “That’s the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up.” But if we keep Disney in our hearts with us even when we grow up, maybe there won’t be any trou-ble at all.
