★ attended The Schaumburg/Hoffman Lions Triva Night.
★ worked The Fox Lake LIons Booth for the Grant Township Fall Festival.
Just a few of the things I've been doing to keep up with our Lions. And I will continue with my visits, so expect to see me at one of your club meetings in the near future.
Looking ahead to October, the big thing this month is the return of
the Halloween Bash & Pig Derby. Make sure to attend this fun occasion for District 1-F lions. Indeed, fun is always had by all who attend. More information about the Bash, which is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 27, at The Grove Banquet facility in Buffalo Grove, is available at the end of this newsletter. Please save the date now and plan to attend.
Your Zone Chairman and Cabinet officers are working to visit all the clubs in the district and to attend as many events as possible. It is my goal to not only be heard but to be seen and active in the district. We are trying hard to meet all and learn as much as we can from all the clubs in the district.
One of my goals is to try to get new members and strengthen our existing clubs. Be proud to be a Lion. Wear your Lions pin all the time and be sure to wear a Lions shirt to all Lions activities.
Also, a note to my fellow lions clubs officers: it is important that we complete our monthly club activity reports on the LCI website to help reach LCI's goal of serving more than 200 million people worldwide.
It does not matter how small the deed may be. A club activity could be as simple as providing a pair of eyeglasses or a hearing aid to someone in need. Just report each activity on the monthly reporting form on the LCI website.
If you have any questions or need help, your District 1-F leadership will be glad to help in anyway that we can.
Have a great month, and keep up the great work that we all do.
Yours in Lionism,Lion Alan J. BarackGovernor District 1-FPH [email protected]

PLEASE COMMUNICATE Dear District 1-F Lions, Lionesses, LEOs, & CUBs,
It has come to my attention after attending several Zone meetings, and walking the Lion Don Hook Walk for Sight on Sunday, Sept. 24, that many of District 1-F Lions members have either forgotten the value or neglected the use of communication, whether it be the spoken word or the written phrase, and we need to renew some of our so-called “old school ways” of communicating with one another.
Since Facebook and Twitter accounts have taken away some of the skills that we once possessed, it seems that people don’t listen as well or talk as well to each other as we did in the past. I’ve also noticed that many of us don’t read the information sent to us via the District Governor’s Newsletter, and or quite a few of us neglect to go online to check out our District 1-F online resource or our resources available from Lions Clubs International or the Lions Clubs International Foundation.
If we did more of these types of communicative endeavors, we probably would see some exciting things such as Lions Clubs International Foundation awarding Puerto Rico a $100,000 disaster grant to help rebuild its infrastructure, and supply food and water to its people.
Also, for those who desire to aid any or all the people affected by recent disasters in all parts of our globe, go online to www.lcif.org and donate any sum that you can afford.
Sincerely in Lionism,PDG Lion Molly M. PennyDistrict 1-F LCIF Coordinator & Lions of Illinois Trustee, 2017-19
