OUR DISTRICT 5180 GOVERNOR’S MESSAGEDear Rotarians,

With the many successful crab feeds and fundraising events these past couple of months, we have more exciting Rotary events ahead of us. FarWest PETS, speech contest area finals, Rotary Peace Forum, Rotary Women’s Day, District Training Assembly and Charter Night for our newest Rotary club in the district, The Rotary Club of Twin Rivers Sacramento. Be sure and check the calendar and district website for all upcoming events!

March is Water and Sanitation Month. As we continue to battle a drought here at home, imagine other parts of the world with no water, or any clean water. At least 3,000 children die each day from disease caused by unsafe water. One organization in the forefront of clean water and sanita-tion is WASRAG (Water & Sanitation Rotarian Action Group) Their website is wasrag.org and you will find proj-ects available to fund, or help volun-teer your expertise or experience.

For water and sanitation profession-als, The Rotary

Foundation and UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education are working together to tackle the world’s water and sanitation crisis and are offering up to 10 scholarships for graduate study at UNESCO-IHE's Delft campus in the Netherlands. The partnership aims to increase the number of trained professionals who can devise, plan, and implement water and sanitation solutions in de-veloping areas. The scholarships also are designed to promote long-term productive relationships between Rotarians and skilled water and sanitation profession-als in their communities.

Scholars will receive a Master of Science degree in urban water and sanitation, water management, or water science and engineering. Graduates work with their Rotary club sponsors on a related project to benefit their local community. The application deadline is 15 June.

The Rotary Foundation is in the center of many water projects and organizations. By giving to The Rotary Foundation, you will help save lives. By donating funds today, half will come back in three years for the use of both local and international projects. Last June I mentioned delivering wa-ter filters to the Favelas in Brazil. The project has been a big success and I know we can do more of these types of projects with your help by donating to The Rotary Foundation!

Yours in Rotary,

Glenn Fong2015-2016 District 5180 Governor

ROTARIAN ADVERTISEMENT & BUSINESS LISTINGS

This Rotarian Business Listing website is for all District 5180 Rotary members. Any active District member is allowed to publish two advertise-ments that at any one time. Your advertisements will expire in one year unless you renew them. Before you can submit an advertisement you must first become a registered user. This registration is independent of your club’s website account so you will need to establish a separate user name and pass-word (however, you can use the same user name and password for this new account). This new account is automatic when you create your first advertisement by clicking on “New Ad.” Or, you can first register and then login to create a new advertisement. As a regis-tered user you can create new ads or edit your ads. To find an existing listing of other members, click on the “Listings” tab at the top of the Home Page.

For assistance send an email to: [email protected]

Rotarian Advertisement Rules:1. A Rotarian business advertisement is free for all

District 5180 club members.2. Before submitting an advertisement you must be

a registered user of this website. (This automatic when you create your first business advertisement.)

3. After submitting an advertisement your Rotary membership will be verified.

4. Upon verification of your membership your adver-tisement will be activated. Activation usually takes 1 to 3 days.

5. Advertisements will be active for one year. Rotary members will need to re-submit a new listing each year.

6. Members may submit up to two listings per year.

Spring ahead this March in District 5180’s Rotary Blood Drive Challenge! The extra hour of daylight can inspire a life-changing hour by Rotarians. Make time to set a lifesaving blood donation appointment today.

Children especially enjoy daylight savings time as it gives them more time to play outside. Donate whole blood, red blood cells, platelets, transfusable plasma or source plasma to help patients like 10-year-old Lizzy who depends on monthly infusions of plasma-based medicine to keep her healthy, 11-year old Pierce who needs red blood cells every month to manage sickle cell disease and 18-month old Cameron who needed platelets to survive a rare disease.

Remember…just one hour can give a patient countless hours of LIFE. Give the gift of time. Donate blood.

There’s two months left to get your Rotary Club into the winning circle. Invite friends/family to join you for a blood donation at any BloodSource Donor Center or mobile drive. Make sure to use your Rotary club’s name!
