Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is now accepted as a means to achieve sustainable development of an organization. The amendment to the Companies Act 2013 alsomajor companies. Government bodies. The committee includes 5 Sub-sectors i.e. Education, Health and Nutrition, Livelihood, Infrastructure and Tribal dThe sub-committee has prepared a shelf of projects for their sectors which have been shared with industries. there are also prant level committees for better and closer coordination between Government Departments and Industry.

NUTRITION PROJECT, “VATSALYA”

Food & Nutrition form the very basic building blocks for Human Development. Project,

“Vatsalya” is an action research based study implemented by NARDES ,GNFC to understand

the impact of supplementary nutrition on the nutritional status of pregnant & lactating

mothers. It is being piloted at Jhagadia block of Bharuch District in Gujarat where 38

villages consisting of 73 Aganwadi Centers (AWCs) are covered.

Objectives

1. To achieve approximately 500 grams improvement in current level of average birth

weight of new born of the participating mothers.

2. To inculcate best child rearing practices among the participating mothers.

Scope

Under this project, the entire project area is covered into four clusters viz. (I) Dry Meal

Area wherein 1 banana, 200 ml flavored milk & 1 groundnut chikki is being provided

(ii) Wealth Packaged Area wherein hot meal is provided into nicely packaged take away

parcels (iii) Normal Packaged Meal wherein the same hot meal is provided into tiffins

and last cluster is the Control area wherein only awareness is undertaken. A

modernized kitchen has been set up at Jhagadia from where the supplementary meal is

distributed to AWCs through a vehicle.

The objectives of this programme :1. To offer children from low socio economic status community good quality teaching and learning opportunity in their pre and primary school years.2. To offer access to the educational methodology and appropriate use of technology to the teachers.

With help from Gramvikas trust, 37 Para teachers have been deployed in 22 Schools of jambusar, vagra and jhagdiya talukas. We have received 12.75 Lacs as funding support from various companies under CSR for this project.

PRATHAM- A Partnership to improve learning levels The Twelve (Tribal) Village Development Program – Jhagadia and Valia

Jhagadia Industries Association and Rotary Club of Ankleshwar in consultation with Collector, Bharuch, put education as an important area to work on, for optimum growth. With Pratham as a partner in the program, on July 3, 2013, Collector Bharuch launched the program at Vataria Primary school, Valia , for 12 villages in Valia and Jhagadia blocks of Ankleshwar. The major objectives of the Village Development Program have been to work with children who have not reached the stage of basic literacy in spite of being in schools for more than 4/5 years - i) improving basic education – for children to be able to read and do simple operations in math – this becomes critical. To achieve the objectives Pratham teams carried out activities in school and in the community:- A) Learning camps for children who needed support from Standard III to V and B) Engaging with mothers in the community, for children of Standard I and II. C) Science Fairs and Science Club activity

1. Child Mal-Nutrition and Treatment Center, PHC Sisodara, Ta.Ankleshwar By ONGC (Asset) , Ankleshwar Project cost:- 15.00 Lac

Goals and Objectives The second level Institutional care for inpatient management and treatment of severely malnourished children with complications at PHCs

Targeted Beneficiaries Children with SAM, SUW and Serious growth faltering with one or more of the conditions like infection/ loss of appetite/ bilateral pitting oedema on legs are beneficiaries of Bal Sewa Kendra and shall be treated as indoor cases for minimum 21 days.

2. Ambulance for PHC Sisodara, Ta.Ankleshwar & PHC Keshvan, Ta.Vagra

Project cost 7.00 Lac for Each Ambulance

Goals and Objectives For Emergency referral services. To Achieve 100% Intuitional Delivery & full Immunization. To Provide better Health Services

3. "BAL GOPAL POSHAN PROJECT" for Malnourished Children of all Anganwadi Centers of Valia & Jhagadia Talukas by Agrotech foods Ltd.,Jhagadiya

To Provide Super Specialist Services from Pediatrician, Gynecologist & Dentist at PHC Kara, Ta.Valia By Deep Trust (GIPCL) Nani Naroli Dist.Surat

The Company is funding Rs.9.50 Lac per citizen of Valia taluka are beneficiaries of this project.

Future Projects

1. Akshaypatra:-

In order to provide hot cooked meals to school children advanced discussions are on with ONGC & other PSUs for funding to project for entire district

2. Renovation of municipal school building under CSR

• Bharuch Municipality got surveyed all Municipal School Buildings & decided to

renovate 15 school buildings. We have given work order for renovating Vejalpur

municipal school building under SJMMSVY amounting for Rs.38.00 Lac . We have

received Rs.28 Lac for constructing new school building at Lal Bazar Under CSR from

Gujarat Gas Company.For remaining 13 schools, we requested Various Companies to

allot fund under CSR. Various companies have taken interest to give fund under CSR for

renovation of municipal school buildings.

3. Toilet to each house hold by 2015 In rural area of Bharuch district approximately 96000 household have no toilet facility.

District CSR committee has decided to provide toilet to each household. Funding to

construction of toilet will be done by various companies under CSR.
