DOUG BAKER DISTRICT ROTARY FOUNDATION

CHAIR | 2018-2021

As DRFC, it is my goal to increase communication to our members and the committee about our Rotary Foundation. We will provide awareness of donor status, knowledge of our fundraising goals and most importantly, how the work on how our Rotary Foundation is benefitting those we serve, right down the street from where we live as well as those who live outside of our country. Recognition is important and we must acknowledge those that are generous to our Foundation - but also capture their stories; what was it that made them “feel” the work of our Foundation.

DAVID MOYERS

FOUNDATION ANNUAL GIVING

It is a major challenge to get club Rotary Foundation Chairs to get more connected and engaged. Therefore, I would like to work on engaging and connecting the Clubs’ Rotary Foundation Chair in the importance of supporting the Rotary Foundation. Would also like to see clubs

achieve $100 per capita in Annual Fund giving in every club of our District. If all falls into place, District 5280 membership becomes a 100% Paul Harris Fellow by June 30, 2021!

WHERE WE ARE & WHERE WE ARE HEADED

MARK ROGO GLOBAL GRANTS CHAIR

My goals are to speak to each club in the District and provide the Foundation Global Grants booklet to every Club President. Also to encoura ge a l a rge number of small clubs to par t i c ipate in Globa l Grants , e i ther by identifying their own third party source of funds or by teaming up with other Rotary Clubs to fund a Global Grants. We also need to educate ne w members on the viability of Global Grants and their importance in many parts of our world.

GREG O’BRIEN STEWARDSHIP CHAIR

Those who started a grant will always be present to f in i sh i t . The respective stewardship chairs for each club should have annually updated address l ists for their counterpar t s and shou ld be encouraged to exchange informal project status reports at least every five months. To do this, Stewardship should be taught at every District Assembly. Club Stewardship chairs should have a roster of stewardship chairs in the other club. Club stewardship chairs should also update the District Global Grants Chair and Stewardship Chair as to the progress of all active or pending grants at the beginning of each Rotary year.

My goal is to reduce the processing time from initial entry into the system to preliminar y approval to 3 weeks or less by creating and implementing a robust DCG Grants training program. Also, to reduce customer service (help) requests by 30% over the 2 years.

LEE STACY DISTRICT

GRANTS CHAIR

My goals for the remainder of this year are to get End Polio Now donations to (or beyond) the targeted $50,000 mark se t by Go ver nor Melody; to create multiple articles for the District 5280 Newsletter about various (and hopefully interesting) aspects of polio eradication with photos, personal stories and relevant data included to go to as many clubs as I can (realistically one a week when I am in town) to speak for a f e w minutes about the importance of giving TRF for the po l io e rad icat ion campaign. Long term, I am pleased at the prospect of working with a co-chair in the months ahead to create End Polio Now focused events.

JUDY NEVEAU POLIO PLUS CO-CHAIR

Focus on both getting PHS members current as well as growing PHS membership and measure success by the number o f PHS members that a re current to their commitment. Get a large majority of club presidents and foundation chairs active and enrolling in growing Current PHS membership . Complete the year with at least 10% of district membership as Current PHS members.

Actions to achieve our goal

Early in their year, get reports out to all new club Presidents and Foundation Chairs showing Current PHS membership, eligible PHS membership and PHS members who need a nudge to meet the i r commitment. Start regular conversat ions with c lub leadership on PHS impact and status. Get across the message that $1,000 a year, or $83.50 a month on Rotary Direct, or the equivalent of $2.75 a day (one Starbucks coffee) is something every Rotarian can afford while making a major difference.

WHERE WE ARE & WHERE WE ARE HEADED

JEWEL PRICE PEACE CHAIR

My goals are ambitious and my fellow Peace Committee will be helping to make them come to fruition. They include; fostering participation of District 5280 Rotarians, Interact and Rotaract members in the Rotary World Peace Conference in January 2020 and to serve on the RWPC Committee. We would also like to add resources to the District’s webpage under Peace for use by Club Peace Chairs. We need to encourage clubs to develop their own action plans and projects around the theme of “Acts of Kindness”. We could certainly use more ideas and awareness to strengthen the role of Peace Chairs in each club by offering training and prospective applicants. Last but not least, I would like to see sponsoring of at least one major District event to provide an educational experience and bring awards to Peace initiatives. Lest we forget, we need to continue our work with the “Art of Peace” project (pilot with Glendale area clubs and beyond).

PUBLIC RELATIONS &

COMMUNICATIONS

“What i s District Grant?” “What’s the difference between District and Global Grants?” “How & Who can apply for What and by When?” So many questions, right?

As the hub of communications on all things related to The Rotary Foundation, my goals are to simplify and educate the benefit of TRF by using unique communication tools to create meaningful, innovative, interactive and fun ways to showcase the benefits of our Rotary FoUNdation. We will be active in not only publishing in our District Newsletters but via social media, providing videos, workshops and other outlets that can be beneficial for all to see and learn. I would like to raise the level of understanding regarding our Rotary Foundation to new heights and beyond…!
