DISTRICT LEVEL RABI KISAN MELA ORGANIZED Shri.VishwanathjiSanapAddressing farmers on the occassion District Level Rabi Kisan Mela and Charchasatra was jointly organized by ATMA Washim and KVK Karda on6 th October, 2017 for sensitizing farmers about advances in rabi crop production technologies and also arranged interaction among Scientists and farmers. The programme was held at District Collectorate office Washim which was inaugurated by Sabhapati Agriculture Z.P. Washim Shri.Vishvanathji Sanap while Project Director ATMA Dr.D.LJadhav presided over the function. Among other guests of honor were Dr.B.D.Gite (ARS Dr.PDKV, Akola), KVK Scientists Dr.R.L.Kale, R.S.Daware, T.S.Deshmukh, Shubhangi Watane and S.K.Deshmukh grace the occasion. In the inaugural address Mr.Vishvanathji Sanap stressed on adoption of modern farm production technologies and assured that his office will extend all necessary support to farmers on safe use of insecticides. Dr.Jadhav briefed on B.B.F. technologies, crop diversification and crop insurance scheme etc. He applauded about new interventions on group formation contemplated by Maharashtra Government to work with farmers for doubling their farm income. Dr.Kale assured about KVK led intervention in technical backstopping and input support to farmers. He further stressed on use oflow cost technologies like pheromone traps, NSKE, Bio- fertilizer treatment. The aim of the programme was to enhance awareness of the innovative capacities of the farmers, to identify farmer-led innovations having potential to be adopted for larger impact and to share the experiences of farmers-led innovations in the field of agriculture and allied sector. Dr.A.K.Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension) and Director, ICAR-IARI during plenary session stressed the need to document and popularize the methodologies developed by innovative farmers. He announced experiences of innovative farmers will be documented as videos which may be given to all KVKs for educative purposes and also to be putup on you tube and other social media. Dr.N .P. Singh, Director, NIASM, Baramati inaugurated the programme in presence of Dr.Lakhan Singh, Director,ATARI, Pune, Dr. YG.Prasad, Director, ATARI, Hyderabad, Dr.S.D.Sawant, Director, ICAR-NRCG. Shri.PopatraoPawar, Sarpanch, Hivre Bazar, progressive farmer elaborated the concept of water harvesting and budgeting. Thirty three innovatives farmers from three states shared their experiences. NEWS LETTERTRAINING ON ADVANCES IN BENGAL GRAM PRODUCTION

Shri. T.S. Deshmukh Addressing in the training programmeThe farmers prefer Bengal gram crop due to more

monetary return and less irrigation requirement than wheatcrop. The crop yield suffers due to wilt disease problem.Hence KVK Agronomy discipline taken initiatives toaware farmers about recommended package of cultivationpractices a training programme on advances in Bengalgram production technology was organized at HanumanTemple,village Pedgaon on 11 October 2017. In thetechnical session Sh. T.S. Deshmukh (Subject MatterSpecialist) guided the farmers on advances in Bengal gramcrop production technology. Further he briefed on varietalcharacteristics, pre-sowing seed treatment, use ofpheromone lure and traps, fertilizer and irrigationmanagement in Bengal gram crop. Krishimitra Sh.Vishwas Bunde and Tukaram Bunde took efforts for thearrangement ofthe programme.

ADOPT FARMING SYSTEM APPROACH FOR SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD:• HON. RAHULDWIVEDI

Hon.Rahul Dwivedi addressing farmers in the workshopOne day farmers workshop was organized on allied

enterprise at village Bhamdevi (Karanja) in collaborationwith State Agri. Deptt. and ATMA Washim by KVK Kardain on zr Sept.20 17. The workshop was inaugurated byHon. District Collector Washim Shri. Rahul Dwivedi whilevillage Sarpanch Shri.Mohokar presided as a chairperson.Hon. Collector in his inaugural speech urged theparticipating farmer to adopt the farming system approachfor sustainable and better livelihood. In his further guidanceShri.Rahul Dwivedi also assured that district front linedepartment will work more efficiently for sustainablefarming system approach and allied enterprise in the villageBhamdevi. During the technical session Dr.R.L.Kale,R.S.Daware andDr.D.L.Ramtekepresented the moduleof fish farming,Sericulture anddairy farmingrespectively.Progressive farmerShii.SantoshKhanzode, MahadeoraoWankhede and SadashivJadhav shared their experiences offish farming, sericultureand dairy farming respectively. Shri.D. .Ingole (SMSEconomics) presented the economics of different alliedenterprise. Dr.D.L.Jadhav (P.D.ATMA Washim) andShri.Kadam (Deputy Director SAO Office Washim)focused on role of ATMA and State Agriculture Departmentfor Socio economic upliftement of the farmer.Mr.R.S.Daware conducted the programme proceeding andoffer the vote of thanks. All villagers from Bhamdevivillage took efforts for successful organization of theprogramme.

NEWS LETTERLABOURLESS FARMING MODULE DEMONSTRATED

Labourless farming model demonstration in soybeanNowadays skilled labour is major constraints in thefarming occupation and mostly in Washim district 80 percent of the area comes under Soybean cultivation.Similarlly harvesting of soybean crop comes in the midweek of Oct. every year due to labour problem soybeancrop losses are witnessed by unusual rainfall. To overcome the labour problem the KYK has demonstratedlabourless farming module at KYK farm for soybean crop.

The labourless farming module demonstrated areconsist of use of variety MAUS 162 suitable formechanical harvesting, Planting on BBF, Tillage andSpraying operation by mini tractor and even harvesting bycombine harvestor. This module also adopted by farmersof village Gohagaon Hade where farmers are alsoappreciated the module and saves upto Rs. 2000/- per acreand saves time also. Mr. T.S. Deshmukh (SMS Agronomy)and P.Y.Deshmukh (Farm Manager) took efforts forsuccessful conduct of the field demonstration.

Shri. R.S. Daware Addressing in the trainingprogrammeFarmers training programme organized on Safe use ofPesticide and Spraying Technique by KVK Karda for theselected farmers under NFSM sponsored CFLD Bengal gramprogramme at its campus on 7th October, 2017. The trainingprogramme was inaugurated by Dr.R.L.Kale (Head KYKKarda) while Mr.R.S.Daware (SMS Plant Protection) acts asa resource person cum experts.

Dr. Kale in his inaugural speech urged the farmers toadopt techniques of safe use of pesticide for avoidingpesticide poising issue. During technical session Mr. Dawarein his technical presentation focused on basic concept offormulation of pesticides, concept oflabel claim, precautionsto be taken while purchasing, transport,handling, spraying and storage ofpesticides. The practical exposurealso given to the trainees on theaspect of ideal spraying techniqueand preparation of sprayingsolution. He also urged theparticipants for judicious use ofpesticide as per label claim as apart of Integrated PestManagement System with use ofother non pesticidal component ascompatible manner as possible.Mr.Bhagwan Deshmukh conducted theprogramme proceeding and offered the vote of thank.

Farmers Welfare to observe 15th October every year asRashtriya Mahila Kisan Diwas. Inspired by the decisionKrishi Vigyan Kendra, Karda Dist.Washim in jointcollaboration with Mahila Aarthik Vikas Mahamandal(MAVIM) Washim had organized Rashtriya Mahila KisanDiwas on 15th October 20 17 at B.M. School Risod.

The theme of the event was improving role ofwomen in agriculture and allied sectors. Pre sid e n tZillah Parishad, Washim Mrs. Harshadatai Deshmukhpresided over the function while Principal B.M.SchoolShri P.S.Domle, Senior Scientist and Head Dr.R.L.Kale,MAVIM CMRC Manager Sharad Kamble and PradipTayde, KVK experts R.S.Daware, S.K.Deshmukh,T.S.Deshmukh, D.N.lngole, Dr.D.L.Ramteke,Sau.S.N.Watane were among the dignitaries present on thedias. Programme was started with ICAR and motivationalsongs. After welcoming guests Dr.Kale in his introductoryremarks focused on importance of women participation inagriculture and allied sector. He urged women to seektechnical advice of KVKbefore performingfarm activitiesand briefed newinitiatives andinterventioncontemplatedby KVK fornurturing womenactivities in thejurisdiction. Speaking on theoccasion Mrs. Harshadatai Deshmukh said that Govt. isgiving preference under various policies and programmesfor ensuring women participation in agriculture productionandbetter livelihood opportunities.

Further she added that for increasing farm womenaccess to agriculture technologies and resources KVKshould take concerted efforts in empowering farm women ..KVK should play women supporting role by givingemphasis on formation of women Self Helf Groups toconnect them with micro-credit activities and encouragingtheir participation in planning and decision making process.On this occasion booklet on taste of nutritive food wasreleased by the dignitaries and five progressive farm womenwere also honored during the programme. On the line ofthetheme CMRC Manager Sharad Kamble, Principal ShriDomle, KVK scientisst R.S.Daware, S.K.Deshmukh,T.S.Deshmukh, D.N.Ingole, Mrs. S.N.Watane elaboratedtechnologies available for empowering farm women andshared their experiences in this field. A mega agriculturalexhibition depicting women friendly farm equipment,technologies on fruits and vegetable processing and variouspublication related to women empowerment was arranged atprogramme site. Women and farmers from Risod, Malegaonand Washim tahsil attended the programme in large number.Mrs. S.N.Watane conducted the proceeding and CMRCManager Shri. Tayde offered vote of thanks.
