Launch of Philadelphia DPN Chapter

Over 50 partners and in-house counsel gathered at Ogletree Deakins in Philadelphia on

May 8 for the launch of Philadelphia’s DPN Chapter. Hosted by Paul Lancaster Adams,

Wendy Beetelstone, Vernon Francis, Deborah Hong and Kenneth Trujillo, the chapter

hopes to help diverse partners build their practices, offer guidance to associates and make

DPN Members Named to Savoy Magazine’s Top 100 List

Savoy Magazine has published its eleventh annual Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Cor-

porate America, and there are a number of DPN members on the list, including Kim Ruck-

er; N. Cornell Boggs, III; Toni Bush; Kenneth Frazier, Brett Hart, Kenneth Chenault and

Marc Howze. The Savoy Top 100 is “the definitive list of African American achievers, influ-

encers and executives facilitating global change through their leadership.”

DPN Members Named to NLJ’s “50 Outstanding General Counsel” List

Kudos to Don Liu, P. David Lopez, Roderick Palmore and Larry Thomson on being named

to the National Law Journal’s “50 Outstanding General Counsel” List. The list members

are “lawyers who have mastered the multitude of skills demanded of today's in-house

counsel. These attorneys head legal departments at some of the world's most important

companies and organizations, and serve as models inside their companies and out in their

communities.” The lawyers were chosen by NLJ editors, aided by nominations from fellow

Kurt Schmoke is University of Baltimore’s New President

Kurt Schmoke, former Mayor of Baltimore and Dean of How-ard University’s Law School has been named the next Presi-dent of the University of Baltimore. UB, founded as an even-ing business and law school in 1925, is a member of the Uni-versity System of Maryland and in 2007 expanded from a col-lege for juniors and seniors to a full four-year undergraduateschool. The university has four colleges: the College of PublicAffairs, the Merrick School of Business, the UB School of Lawand the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences.
