Il paesaggio residenziale italiano degli ultimi decenni è stato, per la stragrande maggioranza, vittima e ostaggio di una drammatica divisione dei ruoli e dei compiti tra una cultura accademica e professionale, che è stata impegnata nella costruzione delle nostre periferie urbane, e il mondo delle piccole cooperative e dei geometri che hanno dato forma e corpo a quella miriade sequenziale di villette, case a schiera e palazzine che popolano la nostra provincia.Passata l’eroica stagione dell’INA Casa, si è progressivamente persa l’attenzione alla qualità urbana e civile della progettazione residenziale dovendo fare fronte, nelle grandi città, al soverchiante montare del “grande numero” immigrante che ha moltiplicato per dieci, in pochi anni, superfici costruite e statistiche anagrafiche, dando vita a logiche insediative differenti, frettolose e ideologiche di cui stiamo pagando ancora oggi i prezzi, sia in termini sociali che territoriali.Dall’altra parte, nella profonda provincia italiana che stava costruendo nuovi miti e ricchezze, a partire dagli anni

The Italian housing scenario has in the last decades, in the great majority of cases, been the victim and hostage of a dramatic division of roles and duties between an academic and professional culture which has focused on the construction of our urban peripheries, and the world of small cooperatives and surveyors who have given form and substance to the sequential myriad of small independent houses, row houses and condominiums that populate our provinces. The heroic season of INA Casa being a thing of the past, one has gradually lost interest in the urban and civil quality of housing design, as it has become necessary to deal with the huge masses immigrating to the big cities, a development that has resulted in a tenfold increase of built surfaces and population, and given rise to various, hurried and ideological town planning logics. We are still paying the price for this development today, both in social and in territorial terms.On the other hand, in the deep Italian province that has been building new myths and riches we have since the eighties witnessed a voracious craving for concrete and for new

CASALOGICA CASALOGICA

Casalogica, realizzata nella pianura padana della Provincia di Bologna, si colloca in un’area di completamento del tessuto urbano caratterizzato dalla presenza di due edifici di forma compatta risalenti ai primi anni ‘50 e in adiacenza ai quali si attestava un deposito frigorifero. L’eterogeneità del contesto e la storia dell’area dell’intervento, che precedentemente era luogo di lavoro, consegnano all’esperienza progettuale la caratteristica di trasformazione urbana.Casalogica osserva e ospita quel che accade al di fuori dell’area di intervento relazionandosi con le virtù e le criticità del contesto sub-urbano, un’architettura che tradisce il concetto visivo di frontiera per divenire elastica e accomodante, in grado di attivare connessioni all’interno di un territorio sempre più stretto da vincoli economici, portatori di normalizzazione in questo tipo di periferia.La sua caratteristica principale è la capacità di ospitare differenti nuclei familiari: dalla coppia di anziani al single, dalla tradizionale famiglia agli studenti, dal disabile all’immigrato.

Casalogica, a residential project realized in the Po Valley by the Province of Bologna, is located in a hiatus in the urban tissue characterized by the presence of two compact buildings from the early Fifties in the vicinity of what used to be a warehouse for refrigerators. The heterogeneous context and the history of the project area, which was formerly a workplace, make the design experience assume the characteristics of an urban transformation. Casalogica observes and accommodates the events beyond the project area, relating to the qualities and critical points of the suburban environment; it is an architecture that betrays the visual concept of border, instead becoming elastic and accommodating, capable of forming connections within a territory that is more and more hemmed in by economic restrictions that lead to a standardization of this kind of periphery. Its principal characteristic is its versatility; it contains dwellings for very different types of families, from aged spouses to singles, from traditional families to students, from disabled persons to immigrants.

THE BUILDING IS ADAPTED TO THE CONFORMATION OF THE LOCATION, RENDERING ITS MODEL REPEATABLE AND ExPORTABLE IN SPACE AND TIME; THE SIMPLE YET ARTICULATED VOLUME WITH VARIABLE HEIGHTS AND A RATIONAL AND DYNAMIC COMPOSITION OF MASSES AND VOIDS DEFINES AN ARCHITECTURE THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TAkE IN AT A GLANCE: ONE HAS TO WALk AROUND THE WHOLE PERIMETER IN ORDER TO GET AN OVERALL, EVEN IF NEVER COMPLETE, VIEW.

LA FORMA STRUTTURALE VIENE DEFINITA ATTRAVERSO UN SISTEMA DI SCATOLE MURARIE IN TERMO LATERIZIO; DURANTE LA REALIZZAZIONE è STATO POSSIBILE MODULARE LA COMPOSIZIONE DELLE UNITà, ADATTANDOLE IN MANIERA DINAMICA ALLE CARATTERISTICHE DEI DIVERSI NUCLEI FAMILIARI. LA FORZA DELLA PARTE MURARIA è STATA ENFATIZZATA DA UNA RASATURA OMOGENEA COLOR TESTA DI MORO, INTERROTTA SOLO DAGLI ELEMENTI IN LEGNO MINERALIZZATO CHE RIVESTONO LE LOGGE PROTETTE E GLI OSCURAMENTI ESTERNI. THE STRUCTURAL FORM IS DEFINED THROUGH A SYSTEM OF MASONRY BOxES IN HOLLOW BRICkS. DURING THE CONSTRUCTION IT HAS BEEN POSSIBLE TO MODULATE THE COMPOSITION OF THE UNITS, ADAPTING THEM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE DIFFERENT FAMILY NUCLEI IN A DYNAMIC MANNER. THE STRENGTH OF THE MASONRY PARTS HAS BEEN EMPHASIzED BY A HOMOGENEOUS SHAVING OF THE WALLS IN A DARk BROWN, ONLY INTERRUPTED BY THE ELEMENTS IN PETRIFIED WOOD USED TO COVER THE PROTECTED LOGGIAS AND THE OUTER BLINDS.

Simone Gheduzzi (Bologna, 1975), Nicola Rimondi (Bologna, 1975), Gabriele Sorichetti (Bologna, 1975), dopo essersi laureati in Architettura presso l’Università degli Studi di Ferrara, nel 2003 fondano diverserighestudio. La loro teoria estetica si basa sul concetto di forza che sperimentano oltre i confini del progetto tradizionale. Svolgono attività di ricerca multidisciplinare dando forma all’incontro tra differenti saperi e creando un continuo dialogo tra teoria e pratica architettonica. Concepiscono la composizione come rapporto dinamico tra tema e programma, una estetica relazionale in cui emergono conoscenze sommerse in grado di formulare riflessioni concrete, utili alla filosofia urbana che applicano al progetto. Attraverso un metodo rigoroso sperimentano in modo ossessivo il rapporto con la forma concentrandosi su aspetti connessi alla metafora della composizione. Possono essere immaginati all’interno di un infinito ciclo di impegno che si manifesta attraverso la creazione prima del multi-progetto, poi della visione architettonica. La parte esecutiva del progetto viene intesa in modo scientifico attraverso lo sviluppo e la ricerca delle tecnologie più innovative, tendendo a un ideale

Simone Gheduzzi (Bologna, 1975), Nicola Rimondi (Bologna, 1975) and Gabriele Sorichetti (Bologna, 1975) founded diverserighestudio after graduating in architecture at the university of Ferrara.Their aesthetic theory is based on the concept of force, which they experiment beyond the limits of traditional architectural design. They work with multidisciplinary research, giving the meeting between different fields of knowledge a concrete form and creating a continuous dialogue between architectural theory and practice. They conceive composition as a dynamic relationship between theme and programme, a relational aesthetics in which submerged knowledge capable of formulating concrete reflections, useful to the urban philosophy they apply to their design, emerges. They conduct an obsessive experimentation with the form, with a rigorous method, focusing on aspects related to the metaphor of the composition. They may be imagined inside an infinite cycle of commitment that is first manifested through the creation of a multi-project, and then an architectural vision. The executive part of their design work is approached as a scientific project, through the development and research of the latest technologies, pursuing an ideal of quality where the architectural environment becomes part of a positive vision of

La costante necessità di evolvere il dettaglio consente di definire il loro lavoro anche di tipo sartoriale ove gli spazi progettati evocano atmosfere sempre diverse e riconducibili ad una sempre nuova contemporaneità. Partendo dal concetto di forza diverserighestudio non si riconosce in uno stile, il non essere auto-classificati diventa la conseguenza dettata dalle miriadi di altre discipline e materiali con cui gli architetti si confrontano. Le architetture prodotte sono paragonabili più per differenze che per similitudini, le comunioni stanno nella filosofia progettuale che rappresenta la premessa del loro dialogare. Diversi i riconoscimenti, tra cui il Premio Internazionale Architettura Sostenibile 2007 e le candidature per la finale del Premio Inarch III e IV edizione; hanno presentato il proprio lavoro in lectures italiane ed internazionali, tra le quali, nel 2012, Towards Relational Aesthetics in the Ordinary presso il TU di Darmstadt. Hanno esposto presso i Padiglioni Italiani al London Festival of Architecture 2008, alla XII Mostra Internazionale di Architettura della Biennale di Venezia e all’Esposizione Universale di Shanghai.

As they base their work on the concept of force, diverserighestudio does not identify with a style, and the fact that they do not place themselves in any category is determined by their way to measure swords with countless other disciplines and materials. It is the differences rather than the resemblances that unite their architectures; the sharing of ideas is part of the design philosophy representing the premises of their dialogue.They have been awarded several recognitions, including the International Sustainable Architecture Prize 2007 and the candidatures for the finals of the Inarch Prize III and IV edition; they have presented their work in Italian and international lectures, as the Towards Relational Aesthetics in the Ordinary at the TU of Darmstadt in 2012. They have exhibited at the Italian Pavilions at the London Festival of Architecture 2008, at the xII International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale and at the Universal Exposition of Shanghai.
