    message from the board chair

The challenges of adding staff, increasingprogramming, expanding training and hosting highquality events, were met with outstanding board

commitment, highly engaged staff and tremendouscommunity support.

It was an honor to serve as chairman of the board of DiversityAwareness Partnership in 2013. DAP continued its solid nancialperformance. The challenges of adding staff, increasingprogramming, expanding training and hosting high quality events, were met with outstanding board commitment, highly engagedstaff and tremendous community support. I am encouraged thatwe will continue to increase the number of businesses and

organizations we serve. This gives our excellent staff theopportunity to develop and deliver best-in-class inclusionprograms. Additionally, it indicates an improvement in ourcommunitys diversity awareness with DAP as a primarycatalyst. We continue to grow our membership, providing anavenue for our entire community to contribute to theachievement of our mission and vision.

I am excited about DAP in 2014 as our board adds new talent. Ourexecutive director and her staff will expand the reach of our

services even farther than in 2013. Our community supportpromises to be quite favorable and new outreach opportunitieswill be evaluated. I am grateful for an excellent board and amhonored to work with such an incredible staff. With their support,I am condent that 2014 will be a year of even greater success.

COCA has always been a place thathas valued diversity and inclusion, but

our work with Diversity AwarenessPartnership has deepened our

understanding of issues, reaffirmedour commitment to the value of

diversity in its many forms, and helpedus begin an organizational effort to

intentionally shape our culture, policiesand programs to reflect our values.I dont see it as a one-time training

effort, rather an on-going journey.Having an open conversation and

building awareness are essential firststeps, and I am grateful for DAPs

work with COCA to help give shape toour practice.

    Kelly Pollock, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, COCA
