Spiritual communion is a unique Roman Catholic devo- tional practice not to be confused with sacramental Com- munion, which is the participation in the mystery of Christ by eating and drinking the Body and the Blood of the Lord. The development of spiritual communion as a de- votion can be traced to St. Alphonsus Liguori. It’s a form of spiritual yearning to be in communion with Christ dur- ing those times when his sacramental gift can’t be shared. To share in sacramental Communion, one must be aware of no unconfessed serious sin against God’s commands and be in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church. With exceptions for age and health, one must also have fasted from all food and all beverages except water for one hour before receiving sacramental Communion. Some Catholics are unable to share sacra- mental Communion because of sickness, geographic distance from a Roman Catholic community, or unavaila- bility of priests. Any Christian who wishes to have spiritual com- munion with the Lord can do so by taking a moment to consider God’s love demonstrated to us in the life, pas- sion, and death of Christ. Give thanks to God for this wonderful gift, and say a prayer of spiritual communion. [email protected] © 2019 Liguori Publications, Liguori, MO 63057-9999. Printed in USA. Open in Spirit to God San Bernardino (Bukas Loob Sa Diyos)

The Marriage Encounter weekend is for couples who are sacramentally married in the Catholic Church. The Marriage Encounter is an invaluable experience of renewing the marriage relationship. It enriches the process of communication between husband and wife. God has a special plan for you during this Marriage Encounter weekend. Living in today’s busy world leaves us with very little time to appreciate the gift of each other that we have received in marriage; the gift given to us by God. God is calling you this weekend to spend some quality time with Him. Wherever you are in your marriage, this weekend is meant to enhance and strengthen your relation-ship as a couple with God as the center of your marriage. “…Don't be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I am calling you by your name; you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1) Applications are available in the front of the church and in the parish office. You may also email us for an application at [email protected]
