Hello Spartans! Can you BEElieve it? The new school year is already here! This

fall will be a very busy time for Key Clubbers, with events like

Club Rush, Region Training Conference and Fall Rally North

arriving faster than ever. With Club Rush, I highly encourage

all of you to come together to brainstorm possible ways to

bring in the members! But remember, while it is important to

make a good first impression on the new members, it is even

more important to keep those members active in your clubs

as well. One thing you can do is come up with fun and inter-

esting service projects to give to the members! Whatever the

case, be sure to give members the best experience in Key

Club you can! The members are the backbone of Key Club – they are what hold us

together!

As you struggle to balance your time between schoolwork, extracurriculars, friends,

family, and for seniors – college applications - remember that you don’t have to suffer

alone! You have an ohana right by your side to help you whenever you need it.

Though it can often be a challenge for us teenagers, always manage your time wisely,

and don’t procrastinate!

As always, feel free to come to one of us on the Division Leadership Team for help!

Emily, Cammy, Madison, and I serve YOU.

With that said, I hope to see you all soon at Key Club events - like September’s Region

Training Conference!

With the fighting spirit of service,

Tyra Saelee

In the United States, Pediatric Trauma remains the leading cause of death

and injury among children ages 14 and under. Recognizing the serious

need for education and training in the areas of pediatric trauma and in-

jury prevention, the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation established the Pediat-

ric Trauma Program (PTP) in 1994.

To develop local projects which will reduce the number

of children in our three-state District who are killed or

injured by trauma, ensuring all children live happy,

healthy and safe lives.

Donating to PTP provides grants to partner hospitals, Kiwanis and SLP clubs,

and it provides PTP safety items.

MISSION:

DID YOU

KNOW?

Unintentional injury is the #1 killer of children age 14 and under in the U.S.

Unintentional injury kills more kids every year than any other cause – including disease, homicide and suicide

Each year in the U.S., 9,000 families lose a child because of a prevent-able injury

Studies indicate 90% of these unintentional injuries can be pre-vented.

After the DCM, Key Clubbers help by serving

popcorn and cotton candy for the movie night!

THE OFFICIAL DIVISION 12 WEST NEWSLETTER | 07

This was the first DCM I have ever attended, and it was

a great experience and extremely informative. All of

the attendees played a fun name game/icebreaker,

and then Tyra presented information about registration

for upcoming events such as Region Training Confer-

ence, Fall Rally North, and District Convention. After the

DCM, attendees painted children's' faces and helped

serve popcorn and cotton candy to families at the

Camden Community Center’s movie night. I would

recommend that all members try to attend at least one

DCM, as you not only have fun but also learn a lot

about current Key Club events and projects!

CLUB REPORT

This summer, there have been a series of weekly

outdoor concerts in downtown Campbell. Since

a lot of families like to bring their children, we saw

this as an opportunity to have a face painting

booth! Each week members would attend and

paint faces, collecting donations toward Pediat-

ric Trauma Program, or PTP. We raised nearly

$150! Even if you think you may not have artistic

talent, it is still a lot of fun. And who knows? You

might manage to create a few masterpieces.
