My name is Elizabeth Wallace and it with great pleasure that I serve as the Division 17 Lieutenant Governor on the New Jersey District Board for the 2013-2014 service year. In the beginning of my sophomore year, I decided I wanted to see what Key Club was all about and began to go to more events. In no time at all, I was hooked. I hope to achieve great things with Division 17, but before I jump into my goals, I would like to tell you a bit about myself. In addition to being passionate about Key Club I am a varsity soccer player, Mock Trial Team member, travel soccer referee, and younger sister. Two of my favorite things, besides Key Club, are Castle and New York City. Through a life-altering experience this past fall I have a greater understanding of how precious life is and have learned to never take anything for granted. As a wise Kiwanian once said, “There is no such thing as pressure. Everything is a challenge.” I truly believe in this motto and have adopted it as the one by which I live my life. My goals for this service year for Division 17 are: Set up a Key Club and a Circle-K Establish contact with all clubs in my division Variety of divisional events Educate members about the K-Family and increase relations with the K- Family Nurture divisional unity amongst the clubs and their officers Total attendance of Division 17 clubs at Fall Rally and DCON Expand membership within the division and district Encourage and aid fellow board members in any way I can to improve the already outstanding New Jersey District Nourish weaker clubs to strengthen their involvement in the community and the district I understand that these are ambitious goals. However, I believe that together we can achieve great things. I look forward to working with you! DIVISION 17 SUCCESS! The 67th Annual New Jersey District Convention came to an end on April 7th after a weekend of informative workshops, beach hang out time, and long award sessions. The Bloomfield and Clifton Key Clubs attended and represented! We had many officers receive distinction. These officers went above and beyond what was required and did a fantastic job for the 2012-2013 service year. Congratulations to all distinguished officers! I am proud to say that Division 17 is also home to the only internationally distinguished club in the New Jersey District – Bloomfield’s Key Club. Congratulations to all clubs for an amazing 2012-2013 service year. At DCON, the 114 delegates from the Key Clubs that attended voted on the District Executive Board for the 2013-2014 service year. The District Executive Board is:

Governor – Ryan Clarkin Secretary – Kelly Tran Treasurer – Penny Xu

Editor – Pak Chau Webmaster – Yuya Ong

In addition, Immediate Past Lieutenant Governor of Division 12 Zack Waldorf won endorsement to run for International Trustee at ICON.

ICON 2013

International Convention 2013 will be held in Washington, D.C. from July 1-7. At ICON, awards are presented to the 2012-2013 district board members and the members of the 2013-2014 International Board are elected. The New Jersey District will be doing a tour for a few days before the convention officially starts. Some of the places we will be visiting are the Newseum, Arlington National Cemetery, Ford’s Theatre, and the United States Capital. For all the baseball fans out there, we will be going to a Washington Nationals baseball game the night of July 1. Even if you are not a baseball fan, the game is bound to be a good time to bond with your fellow key clubbers. ICON is a total cost of $850. Registration and initial deposit is due by May 8, 2013. More information will be coming soon!

“ICON was a great opportunity to meet a bunch of new people. Just like there

are different cultures in the world, there are many

different Key Club cultures as well and it is fascinating to

learn about them.” – Erik Lim, Lieutenant Governor Division 16

The 67th annual New Jersey District Convention took place at the Ocean Spa and Place Hotel in Long Branch, New Jersey. It was truly amazing seeing fellow Key Clubbers from all over New

Jersey finally being reunited. This year’s theme was 1920s, as we saw flapper dresses, people doing the Charleston, and even

performances from the decade during the talent show. The whole weekend went terrific, and did not disappoint anyone who attended. Though it was sad watching the old district board be retired from their position, it was not the end for

many of them as in the future they will continue working with the K-Family. So next year, plan to come to DCON. This is

definitely not something to miss because it is truly something.

An Unforgettable District Convention
