Letter from Your LTG

"My dearest bunnies,

WOW! The months keep on passing by like nothing. Nonetheless, each and everysecond that I serve as your Lieutenant Governor is always held closely to my heart. With the passing of Officer Training Conference, I hope many of you learned moreabout Key Club than you could ever think of. Serving as members of this wonderfulorganization is always a learning experience. There are countless opportunities togrow and improve--and I'm so lucky to be a witness of it all!

One of the quotes I learned while attending a graduation is "I slept and dreamt thatlife was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy."I hope that each of you understands this quote, and that serving brings joy to yourheart. Remember, our Division goal is to volunteer 30,000 of hours of service byMarch. That means 2,723 hours of service per club each month--and recently wehave only reached 900. Now that it's summer time, let's take advantage of the timewe have before school returns and serve with all that we can! Ask your club boardmembers for service opportunities with you.

The biggest question is: who will win the August Eliminate Competition? Rememberthat money raised only in the month of August will count towards the competition! The winning club will receive recognition in the September Newsletter and a spiritstick! However, that should not be the only incentive. We should wholeheartedly bepledging to personally save 5 families from maternal and neonatal tetanus. That's $9for each of us! Surprising how two Starbucks drinks can affect the lives of 5 families.

No matter what happens, I am always proud and thankful to serve you. Remember Iam always here for you if you need someone to speak to! I hope you all enjoy the restof your summer!

Bouncing for Service,Janel Ancayan"

Hey guys. I am going to be a sophomore at Harbor TeacherPreparation Academy, and I am your 20142015 DivisionSecretary. I am also currently the underclassrepresentative at my club, and I intend to make my clubbetter in the following years. For the people who havenot met me yet, in all honesty, I am not the typical KeyClubber who can go around performing the “How do youfeel” cheer with little embarrassment. As a matter offact, I was looking around with dread at the RTC andFall Rally a bit over half a year ago when people wereperforming the cheers; yet ironically, this uniqueness iswhat I love about Key Club. Despite this only being thestart of my second year in Key Club, I have metwonderful and inspiring people throughout the club.Because Key Club helped make my first high school year avery significant learning experience, I wish to use myabilities to contribute to make my division and itsactivities flow smoothly. I hope to get to know every oneof you and spend three more wonderful years together.

.

Hey you lovely bunnies! My name is Eliza Ordonezand I am your 2014-2015 Division Council MeetingTask Coordinator. I am an incoming senior atCarson Senior High School and I have been in KeyClub ever since my Freshmen year. I like singingand making all sorts of stuff from origami to remoteoperated vehicles. I used to be a shy person whowould only hang out with a small group of friends, butever since I joined key club, I had more friends than Icould ever imagine. Key club has given me a biggerohana. It also helped me to see the joy in givingback to the community. After 2 years of serving myhome, school, and community, I decided to giveback to my home club by becoming the secretary. But now that that term has come to an end, I want todo more by serving our wonderful ohana, Division19 South. I have been given this great opportunity tobe a part of the division leadership team, so lets notmake this year a waste. Let’s make it a GOLDENyear! #GoldenTeam2015

Torrance Community High School During the month of June, there were many excitingevents. On Saturday June 21, we had our June DCM!Starting from 1pm, the meeting went smoothly at CarsonPark. We were able to learn what we need to do in order tofurther progress and aid our community. Even our governorencouraged us to go by promising that she will do a dare if ahundred people attended this June DCM. Motivated by ourGovernor, many of our members decided to attend this meeting. However, the real funcame afterwards. The sandwich making began at 3pm. Bythe cooling water fountain, Key Clubbers enthusiasticallystacked ham between buns and made countless deliciousmaster pieces. All sandwiches made were donated to NewChallenge Ministries food bank located in Torrance, CA. Not only did we have the June DCM, but we also had theopportunity to be more involved in the OTC on Friday June27! Held at the Lomita Kiwanis Hall, the Officer TrainingConference is a chance to learn more about your currentposition or if you are aiming to become a board member!Starting from 11am and lasting until 3pm, many membersgathered to learn more of what they can do and to bondwith other Key Clubbers. Many ice breaker games were heldand friends were made. For lunch, we were able to enjoyslices of pizza with sodas! Each training consisted of powerpoints and friendly veterans of that area. Many questionswere asked and many answers were given. At the very end,it was a great learning experience as well as a splendid placeto sing and play at the same time.

During the month of June, Peninsula Key Club participatedin nearly all of the division events, starting with the JuneDCM/Sandwich Service Project on the 21st. In addition to theserious business portions of the meeting, the attending 21members enjoyed playing “Pterodactyl” and getting to knowmore people in Division 19S. Although the weather was on thehotter side, everyone stayed cool, ate plentifully, and evenenjoyed the playground and fountain area in Carson Park.Once the sandwich materials arrived, members got busymaking peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. To top off a funafternoon, the club graciously received the “Club of theMonth” award along with a Kit Kat bar, leaving the memberswith a sense of pride and achievement. The first inclusive Officer Training Conference of the KeyClub year on June 27th was also an enjoyable experience forPeninsula Key Club. Nearly all of the executive board membersattended, along with some of the extended board. The eventwas a great balance between informational and fun because ofthe PowerPoints and icebreakers. Each officer left with moreknowledge than before he or she arrived. Even though theweather called for some actual “ice” breakers, the Peninsulaofficers had a good time with the others. The first of three opportunities to volunteer at the Annual 4thRedondo Beach occurred on the 28th where members filled upthe runners’ goodie bags in preparation for the next twosessions of volunteering. With the addition of pizza and free t-shirts, the event was a win-win for the volunteers and theracers. Additionally, service work at Madrona Marsh was openfor any members with free Saturday mornings.

TheElimnateProjectChallenge

Division 19 South Key Club is challenging the school club’s toraise at least $1,000 for their administrative term. Ideally, amountof fundraised should be adjusted to the amount of members inthe club, hopefully receiving about $9 per each member. For thischallenge, Division 19 South will hold a small competition withineach school. For the club who raises the most money, they willreceive a recognition at the following DCM along with the DivisionNewsletter, an Eliminate Spirit Stick, and the satisfaction of savinglives! Remember that you are all winners for saving lives. While alittle competition is fun, remember that the point of all this is toserve those who are in need. In addition, do not forget to followthe guidelines for submission (posted on the following page).Good luck, beasty bunnies!
