On the second day of the
student and teacher mobility
in the Lithuania, a group of
students participating in a
project “DIY” with their
teachers went to Leliūnai
village (Utena region) and
Anykščiai town.
First of all, the students and
teachers visited Vytautas
Valiušis pottery museum in
Leliūnai. In the museum,
they had a short excursion
round the museum and the
pottery workshop. The
gues t s adm ired the
Lithuanian culture and
listened to craftsman‘s
stories, which were really
interesting and funny. They
were impressed by the
abundance of the exhibits of
different pottery items in
the museum and the
originality and beauty of
Craftsman Valiušis works.
There are paintings and
sculptures depicting the
potter's work.
After the workshop, they
went to the shop of the
museum where they bought
traditional ceramic dishes,
whistles or other souvenirs.
After that, we left for
Anykščiai. There we visited
the Museum of Angels
where everyone had a
chance to write his/her
letter to his angel, and
climbed up the tower of
Anykščiai church to the
observation site. Later on,
we visited the Canopy

However, the most
enjoyable part of the visit
in Anykščiai was the visit
of the Horse Museum.
There the project
participants had a guided
tour, which included
seeing some old crafts
such as weaving and
smithery. The tour ended
in the ethnographic
farmhouse where all
participants had a chance
to not only see how
Lithuanian bread is made
but also make their own
loaf of bread to take
home. While the bread
loaves were in the oven,
the hostess of the
f a r ms t e a d t r e a t ed
everyone with Lithuanian
national dishes.
The day was long but full
of impressions and
pos i t i ve emot ions ,
everyone was in a good
mood, because they had
the opportunity to learn
more about Lithuanian
traditions and customs.

The third working day of
the mobility started with the
warming-up activities for
students which let them get
to know each others better.
Then the lesson about
family business was given by
Croatian teacher Igor
Čizmadija.
It was decided to divide
participants into three
g r o u p s f o r t h e
workshops .The workshops
were organized in three
different classrooms so that
all participants could try
them and create their own
product. There were
enough materials for every
participant which were
prepared in advance by
Lithuanian Project team.
The Craftswomen Gita
Kolosovienė(paper cutting),
Regina Raišienė(weaving
from paper wickers)and
Laima Klasinskienė(straw
plainting)introduced the old
crafts and explained the
main techniques of the
crafts. They also helped the
teachers and students when
they needed some help. The
workshops were very
enjoyable especially when
the participants managed to
complete their work and
see a product. After lunch at
school we headed for
Rokiškis cheese factory
where we had a lecture
about the key factors of
successful business given by
Aušra Zibolienė, the PA of
the director. After the
presentation we had an
excursion round the cheese
factory and were invited to
taste different types of
cheese and curd bars
produced there.

On the fourth day of the
project meeting students
and teachers went to Vilni-
us, the capital city of Lithua-
nia. Before that they visited
the historic capital of Lithua-
nia-Trakai. The partners had
a chance to see a magnifi-
cent Trakai castle and they
spent some time walking
along the ethnographic
streets of the historical cen-
ter of Trakai and shopping
for handicrafts and other
Lithuanian souvenirs.
The first stop in Vilnius was
at the Hill of Three Crosses,
which is famous for a pano-
ramic view of Vilnius. Three
Crosses is a monument for
the national identity and
resistance to the occupa-
tion. After having a view of
Vilnius old town from above
we went down to explore it
better. The students and
teachers visited the heart of
Vilnius old town- Cathedral
Basilica. It is situated in the
center of the Cathedral
Square. The Cathedral is the
heart of Catholics’ spiritual
life in Lithuania. Lithuanian
students prepared some
important information about
the most beautiful buildings
in the old town- Gediminas
castle, The Palace of the
Grand Dukes of Lithuania,
teh Cathedral square and
Clock Tower and etc.). The
most interesting part of the
sightseeing around Vilnius
old town was an orientation
task for students. The stu-
dents were divided into five
groups with the group lead-
ers who were leading the
group around the old town.
All teams got the same tasks
which included finding fa-
mous objects of the Vilnius
Old Town. All teams had to
find these objects, answer
the questions about them
and take a group photo in
front of each object.
At the farewell party the
groups that got the most
correct answers were
awarded.

On the last day of the
mobility the students had a
free morning while the
teachers discussed the
project activities and
products. The Italian
teachers brought and
introduced the dress of a
mo dern i s ed na t i o n a l
costume. Each partner
country got one set of that
costume which has to be
decorated using national
patterns and materials untill
the meeting in Viterbo in
March of 2017.
After lunch a l l the
participants gathered in the
DIY room for the evaluation
of the 3rd project meeting
in Rokiškis. Soon afterwards
the closing of the mobility

head teacher o f the
gymnasium handed in the
certificates of participation.
The represantatives of each
partner country were asked
to say a few sentences
about their experiences and
impressions about the
project week in Lithuania.
The teachers of the
Lithuanian project group
and Lithuanian students‘
parents invited all the
partic ipants to taste
Lithuanian dishes most of
which were sweet . The
most enjoyable part of the
dinner was Lithuanian
dances and circles. It was
very sad to say `good bye`
to the
par tner s
as during
the week
friendships got closer and
emotions were the best
ones. We do not say „good
bye“, we say „we see you
soon“.

DISCUSSIONS, EVALUATIONS AND FAREWELL PARTY

DO IT YOURSELF
The 3rd project meeting
was held in Rokiškis,
Lithuania. Since the weather
in Lithuania during the
project week was unusaully
cold for this period of the
year, the warmth and
hospitality of the hosts kept
everyone warm and happy.
As in the previous meetings,
on the last day of the
meeting the participants had
to evaluate and comment
the main aspects of the 3rd
project meeting: the
presentations about schools,
cities and old crafts, the
workshops and the
sightseeing trips.
The project week in general
was evaluated as well
planned and organized as
everyone knew when,
where and what to do.
Keeping in mind that it was
a learning/teaching meeting,
the programme was very
intense with a lot of
interesting activities. Even
though some activities were
not closely related to the
project topic, they served
for communicational and
educational purposes. The
students stressed the
usefulness of communication
in English and getting to
know the culture, history
and lifestyle of Lithuanian
people while taking part in
planned activities and staying
in families. The hosting
families and students did
their best to make the
foreign students feel
comfortable and welcome.
The participants of the
project meeting also pointed
out that partner schools are
very different and unique in
their own way. Despite
differences in educational
structure and system, the
partner schools have
different school subjects,
spaces and other physical
conditions. The hosting
school was recognized as
being clean and cosy.
The presentations about
schools and partner cities
which included the videos
made by students were
evaluated as more vivid and
i n t e r e s t i n g . T h e
p r e s e n t a t i o n s a bo u t
distinctive old crafts were
very informative and led to
better understanding of the
customs and history of the
partner countries.
Despite some comments
that there were too many
workshops in one morning ,
the workshops of Lithuanian
old crafts were greatly
successful as all the
participants had a chance to
t r y e a c h c r a f t
t h e m s e l v e s w i t h t h e
assistance of very helpful
local craftswomen and
Lithuanian students. The
most enjoyable workshops
were paper cutting, straw
plaiting and making bread as
they were creative and easy
and almost every participant
managed to finish his/her
own work and take the
produced product home.
It was a wonderful week
wh ich enr iched the
participants culturally and
emotionally. Most of the
participants claimed to
hav ing amaz ing and
unforgetable experience of
their lives. The teachers and
students of Lithuanian
project group can be proud
of themselves for organizing
and holding the effective and
enjoyable learning /teaching
mobility.
