Introduction

DL Reamer

The DL Reamer is a string reamer/hole opening tool designed

for maximum toughness. A key features is the slightly eccentric

profile, allowing an undergauge pass thru. When drilling a slightly

larger wellbore the tool assists in eliminating micro-doglegs, orissues from swelling shales or creeping salts.

Incorporating two distinct cutting structures for reaming:

 Drilling mode

 Backreaming

DL Reamer Benefits

Benefits:

A slightly enlarged hole size reduces problems with setting

casing or production liner.

Can be used when drilling forward, backreaming while

making connections or tripping out of the hole.

Reduced trip time

Eliminates separate reaming run

Little or no effect on drilling operations

Added benefit of stirring cutting beds

Design Features

Spiral Blade Design:

Forward spiral blades act as a leading engagement feature that

protect the cutters from impact damage.

Dual Cutting Structures:

Normal reaming - rotating

Backreaming - during connections or tripping

ReedHycalog™ impact resistant cutters

DL Reamer Features

Forward Spiral Blades:

Ensures that the gauge pads will contact casing/formation before the

cutters.

Adding a measure of protection, stability, durability and enabling drill

out.

Spiral blades are designed for both standard drilling and backreaming.

Simple and robust design

Patent pending

DL Reamer Features

Torque Control Components TCC™ laterals

Helps prevent over-engagement of

cutters in formation

Helps maintain a gauged hole

Helps maintain ROP

Controlled lateral engagement

Improved lateral stability

 Additional cutter protection

On the DL Reamer the TCC’s are placed

behind the primary cutting structures on

each of the four blades.

These components have been adopted

from the field proven ReedHycalog bit

technology.

Proof of Performance

5-7/8” x 6-1/16” DL Reamer,Mountrail County, ND, Q1 2012

Successfully drilled Bakken lateral

Eliminated micro-doglegs and cleaned cutting

beds created while sliding.

Ensured an easier time running production

liner, and potentially eliminated any post TD

reaming activity.

Production liner went to bottom with no

issues and no additional reaming

The DL reamer came out with good dull

condition
