We designed the DMC 8000 with the user in
mind. The customizable touch-screen interface
creates an easy, secure and enjoyable
experience for every user. The screen settings
can be expanded to fit your needs and are
designed to ensure that the user requires fewer
navigational clicks to operate the system. Built-in
help screens provide the assistance a user needs
at the touch of the screen.
With available remote access and monitoring, users
can securely access the control system from multiple
monitoring platforms. The system also features up to
90 days of data logging at the operator interface for
easily accessible historical performance summaries,
and reporting for maintenance logs.
The system enclosure also includes a service access
door with external programming ports and a highly
visible indication light (and/or siren) that increase
uptime serviceability and operator safety.

The DMC 8000 is easy to expand and modify to the configuration
of the system by way of its load demand control sequences which
can be tailored at the operator interface. In addition, the system

building blocks and system architecture library necessary to build
a custom yet reliable system.
Security and Redundancy
System security and fail-safe performance are paramount. As part of Cummins’ culture of
dependability, we performed extensive prototype testing and built rigorous failure mode response
into the DMC 8000 to provide best-in-class performance reliability and system uptime in potentially
disruptive scenarios. The DMC 8000 also includes a UPS-based power supply system for controller
power during utility outages, which not only reduces battery maintenance challenges but also
increases ride-through performance and uptime.
Further adding to the fail-safe redundancy, the load management system utilizes a distributed logic
design based on ring Ethernet. Rather than one component being responsible for the operation
control, each major component is capable of autonomous operation in the event of a failure. If any one
component fails, the system design allows for the others to communicate with each other as needed
while that component is disconnected, creating uninterruptible power.
Furthermore, the DMC 8000’s remote access, monitoring and network connectivity are all performed
over a secure Web browser, and the system provides email and text notifications for real-time
performance updates and quicker maintenance response times.
