Our Supporters We are supported by fantastic companies and funders The Cabinet Office have funded Do-itorg for many years and were particularly supportive in the transition from YouthNet to the launch of the new platform in 2015 providing both funds and access to a wide range of contacts and networks

Last year we teamed up with O2 to develop a new mobile app to help young people to articulate to prospective employers their achievements gained through volunteering LinkedIn support Do-it by providing free access to their UK Volunteer Marketplace enabling us to promote professionally skilled volunteering opportunities on behalf of thousands of beyond profit organisations A new Salesforce app later in the year will help us to service employers that want to support their staff into volunteering

Strategy

Following the successful transition from the YouthNet charity to the Do-it Trust and the subsequent launch of the new Do-itorg platform in 2015 the Trust is now focused on moving the organisation from being a primarily grant aided charity to becoming a sustainable social enterprise

Our Board have begun this process in earnest outlining a framework strategy that will see us build on our core service - as the leading digital volunteering service in the UK - and package it into sellable products These will include our new Do-it Local white label service which has been piloted with the Mayor of London and Westminster City Council and for which we see strong potential to reach into a wider local authority and public sector market and possibly beyond the UK

Other key revenue sources include API data partnerships to enable integration with third party apps and services such as that demonstrated with LinkedInrsquos volunteer marketplace We see big potential here including helping employers to utilize Do-it data following the implementation of the governmentrsquos policy that will require companies with 250 staff or more to grant them 3 days volunteer leave a year Our aim is to have a range of products available from simple data integration through to our forthcoming Salesforce app

A particular challenge for the charity is our ability to exploit the extensive range of data we hold as an income generating asset whilst ensuring we respect our users privacy and comply with data protection regulations Selling API keys is one way to do this but we believe there is more potential and we need to boost our knowledge and capacity in order to exploit this

Whilst we are committed to developing new sustainable revenue streams we also want to ensure that we continue to benefit from our charity status seeking grants and other sources of funding where appropriate

Our other big challenge is expanding our reach and impact Our ultimate goal is to see the majority of the UK population using a Do-it powered digital service to get into volunteering We need to increase our capacity and resources to realise this such as developing more partnerships with brands or consider mergersacquisitions with other compatible organisations

We want to ensure that our Board continues to have the skills and capacity to provide the strategic leadership and governance that we need Our current Chair Dr Andy Williamson is stepping down after more than 4 years of service and we will be looking to the new Chair to help us further develop and ratify our strategy and to identify and recruit additional Board members to ensure we have the full range of skills and expertise to help the charity fulfill its objectives

Do-it Trust | Chair | May 2016

Our HistoryDo-itorguk was originally set up by the charity YouthNet (now The Mix) in 2001 as a service to help young people to volunteer Launched by the then Prime Minister Tony Blair as the first digital volunteering service in the UK (and the 3rd in the world) Do-it quickly moved beyond its youth brief to support people of all ages to give their time In 2013 Do-it left YouthNet to join the ivoorg social networking service resulting in the Do-it Trust which launched the new Do-itorg service in January 2015

Our Supporters We are supported by fantastic companies and funders The Cabinet Office have funded Do-itorg for many years and were particularly supportive in the transition from YouthNet to the launch of the new platform in 2015 providing both funds and access to a wide range of contacts and networks

The Esmeacutee Fairbairn Foundation support us with a grant to help us develop new sustainable revenue streams These include our new white label service which has already attracted investment from the Mayor of Londonrsquos office enabling us to power a new micro volunteering service for the capital and Westminster City Council who have piloted our first Do-it Local service

These partnerships are critical to our success and provide a clear route to enable us to become a sustainable enterprise by 2017
