I. U.S. Involvment Before Pearl HarborJuly 1940 - Export Control Act –

stopped all shipments/sales of oil to Japan December 1940 - "Arsenal of Democracy" speech -

President Roosevelt pledged to provide weapons to UK in their fight against the Nazis

March 1941 - Lend Lease Act - allowed President Roosevelt to sell or lend war materials to any country deemed "vital to US interests"

August 1941 - Atlantic Charter - statement of unity between US and UK - signaled to world that US was on Allies' side

needed to answer one set of questions on page 22 and 23. 3.) Students will take the readings out of the folder, read

them, and answer the questions.4.) After 7 minutes, students will return the readings to

the folder and pass the folder on to the next group. The process is repeated.

5.) WHY? To make sure you’re doing work in class. Since you cannot take the documents with you, you have to be on task and cannot waste time.
