Iron Maiden- 1977

. Tony’s career began in 1977 when he joined Iron Maiden as a keyboardist for a short period of time.

How he joined Iron maiden:

“Moore was working in the Hi-Fi department of Debenhams store in Bristol, and had just bought a small Korg synthesizer when he saw an advertisement in the Melody Maker for a keyboard player for a London band.

He contacted Steve Harris, then auditioned and was invited to join the band. He moved to London to begin rehearsals. At that time members of the band all had day jobs and rehearsed once or twice a week. As this was the height of the Pub rock era, their first gig with the new line-up was at a pub called The Bridgehouse in Canning Town.”

Eventually Tony Moore was asked to leave because he felt something wasn’t right and his contribution wasn’t essential he felt.

1977 Onwards

He went on to do bits and bobs, touring/supporting Black Sabbath and The Stranglers with Brian James (from The Damned), forming a group called Tanz Der Youth, recording one single called “I’m Sorry I’m Sorry” for Radar Records (home of Elvis Costello).

He then went onto be in bands called England and Radio Java. ‘Java was his own group in the 80s that had numerous number one hit on the Netherlands before disbanding.
