INTRODUCTION

The following tables present data concerning the

distribution of'1983!-84 high school graduates of New Ito&

State's-public and nonpplic schools. The data uere secured

through the Education Department's Basic Educational Data

System' and reflect the status of graduates, as reported

by school principals, in the fall of 1984.

Table 1 presents trends in the college-going retie

of high school graduates from 1970 through 1984. Tgble

2 shows a .15-year trend of the college-going rate, within

and outside New York State.

Tables 3, 4 and'5 show, respectively, the distribution

of 1983-84 high school graduates of public schools, non- ti

public schools, and public/nonpublic schools ombined.

These tables are arranged by county within geographic region.
