• If you don’t have the information for a part of it, skip it, retaining the same order and format for the rest of the entry.

• If the information is arranged alphabetically, omit the page numbers.

Editor as Author

• If the editor is the author of the part of the book, you move editor to the author position and add “, ed” after the name. You would not then repeat the editor’s name in the editor spot.

• Instead of ed., use eds. Instead of Ed., use Eds.

• When there are more than three, list the first one and “, et al” after.

• Eds. Richard Sime, et al.

City and Publisher

• Choose the one that’s geographically the closest.

• The state is not needed if the city is well-known and there is not another city with the same name.

• The publisher may be abbreviated, especially if well-known.

Reprinted Essays

• Look at the end of the article. Copy exactly all of the information for the original publication, with the author of the article first, in the proper format of Last, First.

• Then write Rpt. in and write down your Works Cited entry for the book you are using.
