Our Featured Volunteer..... Lena Watson
How is a Featured Volunteer selected? From among our dedicated volunteers who have over 1,000hours of service, the name is lottery-drawn for each quarter.
I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana - the second of foursiblings, attended public schools in Shreveport and graduatedfrom Booker T. Washington High School.
In September 1952 I moved to San Francisco and was united inHoly Matrimony to the late Tom C. Watson. To this union fourchildren were born, Pamela, Kevin, Alethea, and Jeffrey (de-ceased). Keeping myself fully occupied, I extended my educa-tion by attending San Francisco City College and U.C. Exten-sion.
The jobs I held were with the Social Security Administration, the San FranciscoUnified School District, and the United States Postal Service from where I retired in1992. Immediately, I found Doelger Senior Center for exercising, enjoying a lot ofcruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, Canada with Virginia’s trips, and many otherplaces. I have been volunteering for the last 18 years.

A Neat, Pleasant COMPUTER ROOM - Thank you, Bob!
You will be thrilled to see how roomy, clean, and delightful the computerroom is. This is because Bob Wilcenski, who is our volunteer webmasterand computer instructor, has graciously and meticulously transformed itinto a splendid atmosphere - bringing joy to all who enter the room. Bobordered all the hardware, installed them, and updated each computer. Be-cause of his work, we now have better computers. When you see him, please thank Bob for a job wonderfully done!
A special Thank You to Margaret Boghosian
This fine guidebook you are reading is the product of the efforts of many, but none havebeen so vi tal to i ts success as our volunteer, Margaret. She has been fai thful ly lending herhand to the quarterl y publ i cation of the guide for over 15 years, during which time i t hasdeveloped from a simple format into the attracti ve layout of today. Margaret’ s duties haveincluded gathering the materials, designing, edi ting, proofreading, and everything in between. Aside from this bigjob, she does al l the beauti ful menus for the Café and the Del i , special events tickets, and class flyers. She alsoworks as a Café cashier and is the Advisory Planning Counci l Treasurer.
Recently, our Ace Volunteer announced her retirement from her career at Doelger Senior Center so as to movenorth closer to her daughter. We have given her many thanks and best wishes al ready. But l o and behold, she hascome back one more time to help get thi s current guide out. So many more thanks are in order. Margaret, what arewe going to do without you?

DOELGER LAUNCHES MOBILITY AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
How Do I Get There?A “green” alternative and your “Plan B” when you choose not to drive your own
vehicle.Want to go to fun places and events and leave the hassle behind?Get information directly from Nancy Radovsky and Leila Dona, theDaly City Ambassador Team, on how to get where you want to go!
The Mobility Ambassador Program is designed to increase familiarity with publictransportation choices for older adults and people with disabilities. Getting out and aboutreduces isolation and the blues that can be caused by limited mobility options. Visit fundestinations like Half Moon Bay, Westfield Shopping Center, and downtown San Fran-cisco; and attend festivals and events. Leave the freeway, the gas card, and the hasslebehind. Best of all, seniors ride free for their first trip. Nancy and Leila will showyou how to use the Transit Systems and Shuttles around us.
For more information, see Nancy & Leila on Thursdays in the Doelger Cafébetween 11:15 and 1:00, or call Mobility Ambassador Program: 650-508-6362
