DOI is essentiality in global distribution
The shared cooperation with three following groups is essential. The producers of the academic information.
- i.e. Societies and Publishers. The distributors of the academic information.
- i.e. KISTI, JST, KoreaMed, Publishers and Domes-tic
and Foreign Search EnginesThe related organization of International academic information.
- i.e. CrossRef
The parties concerned

Methodology : Producer
Securing of the highest quality, in the format of a sci-entific journal and content, is needed. Besides the effort of each society, the operation of the spontaneous quality control council, which has an ob-jective evaluation standard, is required. There should be a settlement between:
The reference transcription style, English marking of Ko-rean written data
co-transcription of Korean and English meta data If possible, it is desirable that the publication is pro-cessed with XML. If that is difficult, the PDF electronic full-text has to be definitely secured. the operation of the response page is a compulsory condition of the DOI deposition.
The electronic full-text linking for references
6
Methodology : Aggregator
Construction English site such as Science Links Japan and KoreaScience.
Implementation the distribution service like the DOI system for korean academic information.
Externally, the producer of academic information is rep-resented by KISTI.
Internally, KISTI supports and leads technically and strategically.
Sharing the meta data with collaborators
Registration in the global Abstract & Index database, strategically

Activities : Assignment of DOI
Each DOI assignment is given a prefix and a suffix number by KISTI or joining society.
The prefix is assigned in CrossRef by the request of KISTI when a society adds.
The suffix is assigned by the publishers at their discretion. KISTI use its own rule to assign the suffix.
e.g. 10.xxxx/ jkfn.2009.38.5.529
16
Activities : CrossRef deposit
KISTI simultaneously provides PDF electronic full-text for KISTI and the society scientific journal publications (system upload).
The CrossRef – standard is data construction with regard to a references and articles.
Creation of the XML for the CrossRef deposition through the system.
Each XML Society makes depositions through the CrossRef home page.
The result of the depositions are monitored by registered e-mails.

Activities : Response page
After depositing the DOI ,the response pages should be completed within 18 months.

Results in 2009
DOIs on Academic Papers deposited and assigned to main participating societies(institutes) from 2007 to 2009. Signed up Cited-by-linking on CrossRef and applied to the service, Korea Society Community of Science and Tech-nology to grasp the citation present condition of the DOI deposit papers. Embodied and offered MR (Multiple Resolution) that is ac-cessible to the response page of the scientific journal as well as the representative response page-in KoreaScience of the KISTI deposit DOI paper. – KISTI accepted the request from IBC, Korean Society for Bioin-
formatics and then KISTI implemented MR using the interim page for the first time.

"KISTI DOI Business Fair" was held for participating societies by co-operating with the Korean Federation of Science and Tech-nology Society. (September, 7th.2009)
Assigned DOIs and began the Deposit Business for 4 English written journals (The Korean Society of Phycology, the Korean Society of Mycology, the Korean Institute of Electrical and Elec-tronic Material Engineers and Korean Society of Environmental Engineering) among a total of 6 types in the international pa-per business by co-operating with the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Society. In order to apply the DOI assignment as the major criteria of the domestic scientific journal evaluation, KISTI cooperated with the Korean Association of Medical Journal Editor, National Research Foundation of Korea, and etc.

Plan in 2010Enormous DIOs Assignment and Deposition for Participating Societies papers. It will be retroactive to the deposit range by the year 2002.
We will deposit over 21 million cases from 34 societies (within Aug, 2010).
In the first half of 2010, the deposition will be enlarged for the participating soci-eties to the papers in 2002.
We will enlarge the overseas DB registration through enormous public relation (cooperating with CrossRef).
We will additionally support the DOI Deposit Business for 2010 –Year- Papers in the Korean Federation of Science and Tech-nology Societies. We will additionally support 4 societies, the Korean Space Science Society,
Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, the Ecological Society of Korea and the Korean Society of Ginseng in 2010.
We will enlarge and develop by integrating results of KoreaScience, KSCI Business. 32
