2 Requirements and prerequisitesThere are specific codec and software requirements for deploying the Dolby ConferencePhone with Avaya Aura Platform 6.x. The administrator must also gather server IP addressinformation.

• Avaya Aura Platform requirements• Required Avaya server information• Manual deployment overview

2.1 Avaya Aura Platform requirementsThe Avaya Aura Platform has specific version, codec, and firewall configurationrequirements. Read the appropriate Avaya Aura Platform documentation for information onspecific network requirements.

This document provides instructions for an Avaya Aura Platform 6.3 environment. Wheninstructions differ in Avaya Aura Platform 6.1 and 6.2 environments, they are noted.

Note: The Avaya Aura Platform (especially the Avaya G350 media gateway) does notsupport the G.722 audio codec. Therefore, Dolby Conference Phones on the Avaya AuraPlatform cannot be configured to use only this audio codec. For more information, seethe Dolby Conference Phone administrator's guide .

Avaya Aura Session Manager is required to support Dolby Conference Phones.

Note: Network Address Translation (NAT) is not supported by the Dolby ConferencePhone. Therefore, the Avaya Aura Platform servers should be on the same side of theorganization firewall as the Dolby Conference Phones.

2.2 Required Avaya server informationTo deploy Dolby Conference Phones, you need to know the IP addresses of the primary andsecondary Avaya Aura Platform servers.

2.3 Manual deployment overviewA knowledgeable Avaya Aura Platform administrator should perform manual deploymentand configuration of the Avaya Aura Platform.

The steps listed below are provided as a reference point only. For Avaya documentation, goto http://support.avaya.com.

1. Synchronize the Avaya Aura Communications Manager and Session Manager.

2. In the Avaya Aura System Manager, create a new SIP phone extension/account:

a. Add the SIP user for each Dolby Conference Phone.

b. Assign a communications profile to each user.

c. Assign a session manager profile to each user.

When completed, you can change the phone configuration file that you created to use theAvaya Aura Platform as the IP private branch exchange (PBX) server.

5 TroubleshootingProcedures are available to help you troubleshoot problems with registering the phone andmaking calls.

• Troubleshooting registration problems• Troubleshooting a phone that cannot make any calls• Troubleshooting calls that disconnect immediately• Troubleshooting a phone that cannot call PSTN numbers

5.1 Troubleshooting registration problemsRegistration problems can be the result of misconfiguration or entering the wrongcredentials in the Avaya Session Manager. Several settings should be verified and correctedif necessary.

Procedure

1. Ensure that the details of the SM100 security module, extension, and communicationprofile password are entered accurately to register with Session Manager.

2. Tap this sequence to verify that the configuration process completed successfully:

> > Status > Network > Call Server

3. Verify the realm configuration on the phone.

Make sure it is set to * unless you are sure about the correct value for your system.

5.2 Troubleshooting a phone that cannot make anycallsSeveral configuration problems may leave a correctly registered phone unable to make calls.

Procedure

1. Check the SIP routing group configured on the phone.

You can check this from the Avaya Aura System Manager web user interface (UI) or useAvaya Site Administration to check the individual station details. Ensure that the phonesare using the same routing group.

2. Check that the SIP routing group that the phone is assigned to in the Session Manager(through Avaya Aura System Manager) can route the call to the destination routing group.

Troubleshooting

28 June 2017 22

Page 23: Dolby Conference Phone · requirements for deploying the Dolby Conference Phone with Avaya Aura Platform 6.x. ... For information about using Dolby Conferencing Console to set configuration

Make sure (possibly though Session Manager logs) that the call is being routed correctlyto the destination end point. The Session Manager traces indicate the SIP-specific errorresponse, which can assist in further troubleshooting.

3. If a Session Manager capture indicates that the Session Manager is able to route the callto the Communication Manager but does not get back any response from it, check theCommunication Manager traces.

5.3 Troubleshooting calls that disconnectimmediatelyCodec incompatibility may cause calls to ring but disconnect immediately when the call isanswered.

Procedure

1. Confirm that the phone is properly registered.

2. Check the codec configuration on both ends and verify that both end points areconfigured to use at least one compatible codec.

Note: The Avaya Aura Platform does not support the G.722 audio codec.

5.4 Troubleshooting a phone that cannot call PSTNnumbersCodec incompatibility may prevent a phone from calling public switched telephone network(PSTN) numbers.

About this task

The codecs that are selected on the phone may not include any that are compatible with thecodec selected on the gateway.

Procedure

1. Check the codecs configured on the phone.

2. Select the appropriate gateway codec on the phone to make the PSTN calls.

3. Make sure Avaya Aura Platform and the gateway are set up to accept G.711 and Internetlow bit-rate codec (iLBC).
