UNIQUE UTENSILS... BY YOU
Using eating and/or serving utensils to create a unique entry.
353. Using metal utensils 354. Using plastic utensils
IGNORE THE BOX...
And make your own rules. The Canfield Fair will supply a collection of 10 fat quarter rolls
of fabric. These 10 colorful pieces are a 1/4 yard of fabric approximately 18x21. Use some
amount of each color of the fabric, your creativity and any other supplies with any
technique to make an entry. The packaging gives you a website and instructions to complete
this project. DO NOT follow those instructions. Create a ONE OF A KIND entry. To pick
up one box/package of the 10 available, bring your entry form and entry fee to the Fair
Administration Building (#20) starting June 1 from 9:00-4:00 Monday - Friday. Entrants
must be 16 or over.
356. Ignore the Box
WE NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CREATIVE AND TALENTED
We are gathered here today to witness your creativity. Take that wedding dress out of the
box in the attic (or purchase one) and make something out of it. Remember that special day
each time you look at the item that you created from the most important dress of your life.
359. We Now Pronounce You Creative and Talented
FIDGET, ACTIVITY, BUSY, DISTRACTION
Fidget, Activity, Busy, Distraction... No matter what you call these aprons... They work!
Construct a durable, machine washable full apron with tightly secured "activities" to help
Alzheimer's, dementia or head trauma patients perform fine motor skills, familiar actions
with motor/sensory stimulation. You can search the internet for ideas, but here are some
things to think about ... dressing skills, multiple textures/surfaces, tactile stimulation, and
color. When you receive your entry tag in the mail, please indicate on the back whether this
is for donation to a local organization (exhibitor keeps the ribbon/prize money) or for a
loved one to be returned to the exhibitor at the end of the fair. These entries will be judged
and then donated (signature is required at bottom of entry form.)
362. Fidget, Activity, Busy, Distraction
PLANNING TODAY FOR A QUILTED TOMORROW Exhibitors are asked to create a fair or fall themed 10 x 10 quilt square with a 1/2 inch seam
allowance in mind. The squares will be displayed and judged with winners receiving
ribbons and premiums at this fair, but ALL squares become the property of the Canfield
Fair (signature is required at bottom of entry form.) Our vision/plan is to make a quilt from
the squares for the 175th Canfield Fair in 2021. Monies raised from the sale of the quilt(s)
will benefit the Arts and Crafts department and the new Event Center/Home of the Junior
Fair.

Division L - 2020 SILVER SPOON CONTEST
The recipe MUST be followed exactly as printed, with no alterations or
changes permitted. Entries will be displayed on plates provided by the fair. An
entry is four (4) rolls.
794. Cloverleaf No-Knead Dinner Rolls
9 cups flour
1 cup sugar 4 cups of milk
1 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 Tablespoons salt
2 packages active dry yeast
Make the dough: Begin by pouring 4 cups of milk into a stock pot or Dutch oven.
Add one cup of sugar and one cup vegetable oil. Stir to combine. Turn burner to
medium to medium low and scald the mixture. Before the mixture boils, turn off
heat. Allow the mixture to cool to warm or lukewarm (a good temperature is
between 90-110). Add 4 cups of flour and sprinkle in two packages (4 and ½
teaspoons) of active dry yeast. Stir together to get the yeast into a completely
combined warm moistness. Add another 4 cups of flour. Stir together and allow to
sit covered with a towel or lid for 1 hour. After an hour the dough should have
doubled in size – add 1 cup of flour, one heaping teaspoon of baking powder, one
scant teaspoon of baking soda, and two Tablespoons of salt. Stir together until
combined.
Make the rolls: Butter one or two muffin pans. To form the rolls, pinch off a
walnut sized piece of dough, roll the dough into a ball, repeat and tuck three balls
of dough into each buttered muffin cup. Continue until pan is full. Cover and allow
the rolls to rise 1-2 hours.
Bake the rolls: 400 degrees or until golden brown for 17-20 minutes.
Makes 24 rolls.
1st - SILVER SPOON 2nd - $10.00 3rd - $5.00
