1.0 SCOPE
This specification calls for the design, fabrication, painting, shop/site testing and supply of one number vent silencer as per this specification and data sheet.
2.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
2.1 All the pressure parts of the silencer shall be designed as per ASME Section VIII; Div.I.All welding shall be as per ASME Section IX. Latest editions of codes existing as on Feb01, 2009 will be applicable.
2.2 Materials used for the silencer shall be as per the requirements in the data sheet /MR.
For absorptive silencer all acoustic insulation (internal) shall be constructed with mineral wool and shall be strengthened with a wire mesh. The insulation shall be protected with SS perforated sheet (1.6mm thick min) in entire path of fluid stream. When the insulation length is more, it shall be supported with the circular steel rings, against collapsing of the insulation due to its own weight. Vent silencer shall be provided with rain hoods (detachable) and a bird screen, at the outlet. In case of external hot insulation, required for the service the silencer shall be supplied with suitable cleats, for insulation fixing at site. All internal insulation tubes, if any, shall be properly supported. Design of silencer shall allow for easy replacement of internal insulation, during maintenance. The silencer is mounted vertically with proper support-brackets (4nos.min).
2.3 Silencer shall have drain connection, with 1” inch globe valve as per valve material specification attached with MR.
2.4 All welding on the silencer shall be full penetration welds.
3 INSPECTION AND TESTING
3.1 All welds of pressure parts shall be fully radiographed as per code. Material shall be inspected & punch-marked prior to fabrication.
3.2 The Silencer shall be tested for a period of 20 minutes for performance evaluation under minimum operation conditions at vendors work. If facilities for testing do not exist at works, performance test of silencer shall be carried out at site in the presence of vendor’s representative and vendor’s offer shall be deemed to include the same. Any defects/defective parts shall be rectified/replaced by vendor free of cost to the purchaser.
Equipment shall be deemed to be accepted by purchaser only after successful performance testing as per conditions in the data sheet.
3.3 The silencer shall be submitted for inspection to purchaser or his authorized representative by the vendor prior to dispatch.
