Hoy comenzamos la semana más santa en nuestra tradición
cristiana, una semana que incluye los últimos días de Cuar-esma
(que termina el jueves antes de la Misa de la Cena del Señor) y los
tres días que llamamos triduo. Una de las realidades más tristes de
nuestra situación actual en la Iglesia es que la mayoría de los
católicos no participan en las liturgias de esta semana. Nuestra
teología dice que estos son los días más importantes del año. La
lógica sería que cada miembro de la iglesia participe en estas
hermosas y poderosas liturgias. Sin embargo, la experiencia es que
solo una pequeña parte de los feligreses participa. Este Domingo de
Pasión comenzamos la semana acogiendo una gama de emociones del
triunfo a la tragedia. Comenzamos agitando palmas alegremente;
terminamos tristes al pie de un árbol. Entramos en la pasión de
Cristo. Durante estos últimos días antes de la celebración de la
Pascua, los cristianos en todas partes están llamados a recordar y
participar de la pasión de Jesu-cristo. Durante esta semana de
pasión, sufrimiento, gracia, amor y perdón, cada uno de nosotros
está llamado a recordar y participar en la pasión del Cristo del
Calvario y luego estamos llamados a abrazar y aligerar la carga del
Cristo cuya pasión continúa encar-nada en los hambrientos, los
pobres, los enfermos, los confinados, los desamparados, los
solitarios, los deprimidos, los oprimidos y los marginados.
Today we began the holiest of weeks in our Christian tradition,
a week that includes the last days of Lent (which ends on Thursday
before the Mass of the Lord's Supper) and the three days we call
triduum. One of the saddest realities of our current situation in
the church is that most Catholics do not participate
in the liturgies of this week. Our theology says that these are
the most important days of the year; yet they
are not holy days of obligation. The logical assumption would be
that every member of the church would then be present to
participate in these beautiful and powerful liturgies. The
experience however is that only a small portion of parishioners
participate. This Passion Sunday we began the week by running the
gamut of emotions from triumph to tragedy. We began by waving
joyful palms; we ended at the foot of a sorrowful tree. We entered
the passion of the Christ. During these last days before the
celebration of Easter, Chris-tians everywhere are called to
remember and to participate in the pas-sion of Jesus Christ. During
this week of passion, passionate suffering, passionate grace,
passionate love and passionate forgiving, each one of us is called
to remember and participate in the passion of the Christ of Calvary
and then we are called to embrace and lighten the burden of the
Christ whose passion continues to be experienced in the hungry, the
poor, the sick, the homebound, the homeless, the lonely, the
depressed, the oppressed and the outcast.
I am very please to welcome the Most Reverend Bernard Shlesinger
who will visit us this Holy Thursday and will preside at the
Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. On May 15, 2017, His Holiness,
Pope Francis, ap-pointed him auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of
Atlanta. He was ordained on July 19, 2017. Let us warmly welcome
Bishop Shlesinger to Our Lady of La Salette. Me complace mucho
darle la bienvenida al Reverendísimo Bernard Shlesinger III quien
nos visitará este Jueves Santo y quien presidirá en la Misa
Vespertina de la Cena del Señor. El 15 de mayo del 2017, Su
Santidad el Papa Francisco, lo nombró Obispo auxiliary de la
Arquidiócesis de Atlanta. El fue ordenado Obispo el 15 de julio del
2017. Démosle una calurosa bienvenida a Nuestra Señora de La

Al celebrar los Días Santos de la Semana Mayor de nuestra
tradición de la Iglesia y la cumbre de nuestro año litúrgico,
también tenemos que prestar atención a algunas cuestiones prácticas
y mundanas, como el estaciona-miento. En los próximos días
probablemente tendremos un número mayor de feligreses que lo
acostumbrado en Our Lady of LaSalette y todos sabemos que nuestra
situación del estacionamiento no es la ideal. Seamos conscientes de
esta realidad y seamos un poco más considerados unos con otros;
permitamos que nuestros valores cristianos resplandezcan al venir a
las celebraciones de los próximos días. Si usted puede estacionar
lejos de la iglesia, por favor hágalo para que otros sobre todos
los mayores puedar estacionar mas cerca de la iglesia. Recuerde que
podemos estacionar en los terrenos de la casa parroquial y que si
lo hacemos de una manera ordenada podemos utilizar al máximo el
espacio para estacionar. Seamos considerados de las necesidades de
otros que tambien vienen a celebrar la Semana Santa, revistámonos
de Cristo y sirvámosle al servirnos unos a otros con bondad.
As we celebrate the High Holy Days of our Church tradition and
the summit of our liturgical year, we also have to pay attention to
some mundane and practical matters such as parking. In the next few
days we will probably have a larger than usual number of people
worshiping at Our Lady of LaSalette; and we all know first hand
that our parking situation is not ideal. Let us be mind-ful of that
reality and let us become a little more considerate of one another;
let us allow our Christian values to shine as we come to worship in
the next few days. If you are able please park as far away from the
church as you can, so that others who are less able than you are
may park more closely to the entrance to the church. Remember that
we can park on our rectory grounds across the street from the
church and that if we do it in an organized manner we can maximize
the use of the parking space there. Let us consider the needs of
others as we come to celebrate the liturgies of this week, let us
put on our Christian values and serve Christ in serving one another
in kindness.

Jesús “se levantó de la mesa, se quitó el manto y tomando una
toalla, se la ciñó; luego echó agua en una jofaina y se puso a
lavarles los pies a los discípulos y a secárselos con la toalla que
se había ceñido (Juan 13:4-5.) Cuando acabó de lavarles los pies,
se puso otra vez el manto, volvió a la mesa, y les dijo:
‘¿Comprenden lo que acabo de hacer con ustedes? Ustedes me llaman
Maestro y Señor, y dicen bien, porque lo soy. Pues si yo, que soy
Maestro y el Señor, les he lavado los pies, también ustedes deben
lavarse los
pies unos a otros. Les he dado ejemplo, para que lo que he hecho
con ustedes, también ustedes lo hagan’” (Juan 13:12-15.) Este es el
acto de humildad y de servicio al que estamos llamados a expresar
en la liturgia del Jueves Santo. Como en años anteriores, toda
nuestra comunidad de fe es invitada a que le laven los pies, y si
cual-quiera de nuestros miembros de la comunidad así lo desea,
lavar los pies de otra persona. Este es un gesto ritual expresivo
de nuestro com-promiso de servir al otro en el amor, la paz y la
humildad. Que este acto de caridad cristiana realmente manifieste
nuestro amor del uno por el otro. Por favor, recuerde vestir
zapatos y calcetines que se puedan quitar fácil y rápidamente y
traer una pequeña toalla de mano para secar sus propios pies.
Después de que sus pies sean lavados y secados, usted podría lavar
y secar los pies de la próxima persona.
Jesus “took a towel and tied it around his waist. Then he poured
water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry
them with the towel around his waist (John 13:4-5.) When He had
washed their feet, put his garments back on and reclined at table
again, He said to them, ‘Do you realize what I have done for you?
You call me teacher and master; and rightly so, for indeed I am. If
I then, your master and teacher, have washed your feet, you also
ought to wash one an-other's feet. I have given you a model to
follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do’” (John
13:12-15.) It is this act of humility and service that we are
called to ex-press in our liturgy on Holy Thursday. As in years
past our entire faith community is invited to have their feet
washed and —if any of our community members so desire, to wash
another person’s feet. This is a ritual gesture expressive of our
commitment to serve one another in love, peace, and humility. May
this act of Christian charity truly express our love for one
another. Please remember to wear shoes and socks that can be easily
and quickly removed and bring a small hand towel for the drying of
your own feet. After your feet are washed and dried, you may wash
and dry the next person’s feet.

Holy Thursday . Jueves Santo The universal church celebrates
that it was at the Last Supper, on the night when he was betrayed,
that our Savior instituted
the Eucharist. We remember not only the institution of the
Eucharist but also the Lord's commandment to love one another as he
has loved us. We remember that there is nothing more influential
about the death of Jesus Christ than the Jewish observance of
Passover. La iglesia universal celebra que fue en la Ultima
Cena, en la noche en que fue traicionado y entregado, que nuestro
Señor instituyó la Eucaristía. Recordamos no sólo la institución de
la Eucaristía sino también el mandamiento del Señor de amarnos unos

S pecial Offering for our Archdiocesan Seminarians on Easter
Sunday As Pope John Paul II said, “The responsibility for the
seminary belongs to the entire Christian community.” We are blessed
in this Archdiocese with over 50 men who are responding to a call
for priestly service to the people of God in the Archdiocese of
Atlanta. Though this generous gift of God is a blessing for this
Archdiocese, it does pose a challenge to us. These men need both
our financial support and our prayers. Please provide a sound
future for the se-minarians here in the Archdiocese of Atlanta by
giving generously to the Archdiocesan Seminarians’ Collection next
week-end.

Domingo de Pascua Como dijo el Papa Juan Pablo II: “La
