It’s been another long, hot summer. As our seasonal residents return and bring the

cooler weather back with them, our POHH activities will again kick into high gear. You

can read all about the events that our Social Committee has planned later in this

newsletter. I look forward to seeing the “usual suspects” at these events, and hopeful-

ly some new faces as well.

We continue to see improvements in our beautiful community. The golf course is in

great shape, thanks to the efforts of Hampton Golf. The parking lot at the Clubhouse

has been repaved, and work continues on the Ladies locker room; all this in spite of

the fact that the membership drive earlier this year fell short of its goal. On Septem-

ber 13 th, Hampton Golf announced a new initiative to bring in more golf members,

one that has worked well at other properties they manage. As we go to press, details

were still being finalized. I believe that we should all get behind this effort. As you

know, whether you are a member or not, a thriving country club is good for all of us,

in that it makes for a more vibrant community and positively impacts our home val-

ues.

Your POHH volunteers are preparing to update the Community Directory for 2019, so

look for details on that. If you have neighbors who are new to Harbor Hills, please

make sure they submit their information on our website. Remember, it is your mem-

bership in the POHH that makes the directory possible.

In other news, I am happy to announce that current POHH members now have the

ability to renew your membership on-line (and pay by e-check or credit card) via Pay-

Pal. For those who wish to take advantage of this, you will see details on your Decem-

ber dues statement. Of course, you will still be able to mail a check if you prefer.

Many of you expressed concern about the power outages that occurred this summer.

SECO has put the blame on Duke Energy, from whom they lease the power lines, but

from our perspective, SECO owns the problem and needs to fix it. Michael Rich has

promised to have a SECO representative at the next HOA meeting, and we have every

right to expect them to tell us what caused this, what is being done to correct it, and

when we can expect a resolution. As always, our voice is stronger when we are united.

The volunteers who make up your POHH Board of Directors are here to serve you, the

residents of Harbor Hills. Feel free to contact one of us if you have questions or con-

cerns. Whether you are a new resident, or you’ve been here since the beginning, I

believe you can enhance your experience in Harbor Hills by getting involved. Volun-

teer to help on a committee, or just attend our social activities, and you will enhance

YOUR quality of life in our wonderful community. You live in the BEST neighborhood in

Central Florida, and you can help keep it that way!

2019 Harbor Hills Community Directory

For the fifth year in a row, the Property Owners of Harbor Hills (POHH) is putting to-gether the community directory for 2019 that includes all Harbor Hills residents. For this, we will need your help. The information gathered is used strictly for preparing this directory and is not made available to any other organization. The directory is distributed, around the March time frame, by POHH volunteers to all homeowners without charge to you.

Here are the instructions for participating in the 2019 Harbor Hills Community Direc-tory:

If your information in the 2018 directory hasn't changed, you won't need to do anything.

If your information needs to be updated or if you are new to the community or were not listed in the 2018 directory, click the link to our website and insert your information. Please be accurate, since we do not modify what you type. Also, make sure you click SUBMIT when you are done typing so that your information is transmitted to our webmaster.

If you don't have a computer, perhaps you can ask a friend or neighbor who has

one to help you access the webpage. http://www.pohh.org/Directory.html.

If you have new neighbors, please pass along this information so they can partic-ipate too.

The POHH covers the costs of managing the data base associated with producing the directory. This directory would not exist without the efforts of our volunteers. Your support for the POHH makes the directory a reality, and allows us to organize and publicize our numerous social events.

We look forward to hearing from you and including you in the 2019 Harbor Hills Com-munity Directory. We believe that neighbors are friends just waiting to be discovered.

Kind regards,

POHH Board of Directors

Open Seat on the POHH Board of Directors

One of our Directors, Gene McConville, has announced his resignation from the Board. Gene and Lynda have sold their house and have moved out of Harbor Hills. We are looking for volunteers to fill the open seat until the next annual meeting in March 2019.

We encourage all residents to consider this opportunity to get involved with POHH and do your part to help us enhance the quality of life for you and your neighbors. If you are interested, please contact Gary Mayo at 352.775.2616, or email to [email protected]

Frequently Asked Questions about the POHH Social Committee.

1) “What does the Property Owners of Harbor Hills (POHH) Social Committee do for me?“

The answer is that the POHH social committee plans, manages, and delivers a variety of social events each year including monthly social email communications from Octo-ber to April, manages and coordinates the delivery of the Harbor Hills directory, pro-vides input and coordination of the POHH Newsletters, and is instrumental in bringing you the annual Harbor Hills Resident Art Show.

2) “Who sits on the POHH Social Committee and what tasks do they do?”

The POHH Social Committee is made up of committed volunteers from the POHH Community. This season’s Committee roster is below. We want to thank Joann Por-tell and Betsy Applebaum for their contributions last year. We are very happy to wel-come Susie Connor and Barbara Smith to the social committee.

3) “Can I participate on this Committee?”

The answer is YES! The social committee is always looking for volunteers to help man-age and plan the activities. If you 1) have the desire to be involved, 2) can use a com-puter (are familiar with word or excel), have a smart phone and can text and com-municate via email, we need you! We are also always looking for hostess/hosts who are willing to open their homes for the various parties we plan throughout the sea-son. If you wish to participate in any capacity, let one of the committee members know.
