DONATE LIFE INDIANA AWARENESS PROGRAM Girl Scouts across the country show a commitment to make the world a better place. Learning about and promoting organ, tissue and eye donation education is another way for Girl Scouts to do what they do best, help change the world through service learning projects. On behalf of the more than 100,000 people awaiting a lifesaving organ transplant, the Donate Life Indiana Awareness Patch Program will allow Girl Scouts across Indiana to pursue organ, tissue and eye donation advocacy to help save more lives. COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS: 1. Watch the Learn How Organ Donation Helps Save Lives video found on Donate Life Indiana’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/user/donatelifeindiana/). Then, watch one other real-life Indiana Story of Hope video of your choice found on the YouTube channel. 2. Complete one or more of the following donation awareness activities below: • Create a simple craft or blue and green artwork to hang in your window with positive donation messaging. • Create a poster or bulletin to hang in a public area for others to see. Be sure to get approval to hang it first. • Encourage your troop to wear blue and green at an in-person or virtual meeting day in honor of those on the national transplant waiting list. • Take a picture in your Girl Scouts uniform with blue and green accessories. Post it along with inspiring messages about organ donation on your or your family member’s social media page. Consider posting it on your troop or council’s social media page. 3. Have an educational conversation with one or more adults in person or by phone to share what you learned about organ donation and transplantation. 4. After completing the above activities, fill out the information below the dotted line and send to Donate Life Indiana. Your patch will be mailed to you. Blue, green and a swirl are Donate Life’s national brand; they represent the sky, earth and the circle of life. Girl Scouts across the country show a commitment to make the world a better place. Learning about and promoting organ, tissue and eye donation education is another way for Girl Scouts to do what they do best, help change the world through service learning projects.
