About LithuaniaLithuania is the largest of the three Baltic states. It has five ethnographic regions: Žemaitija, Aukštaitija, Dzūkija, Suvalkija and Lithuania Minor. Each of these regions has its own language dialect, folk costumes, customs, crafts, and unique celebrations of seasonal festivals. There are about 3 million people in the country. It’s capital and largest city is Vilnius.
Symbols of LithuaniaThe coat of arms of Lithuania is one of the oldest
national coats of arms in Europe, that shows an knight known as Vytis (pronounced [ʋiːt 7ɪs], "the Chaser"). Country’s flag consists of three colours – yellow, green and red, which symbolises golden fields, green countrysides of Lithuania and all the blood that has been shed for the country.
Astronomy in Lithuania One of many things that Lithuanians are talented
at, is astronomy. Astronomers like Gunaras Kakaras, Antanas Juska and others really improved astronomy in Lithuania in the 20th century. This century’s astronomers are preparing for a big event, “ Misija Lituanica 80” – they are going to launch the first Lithuanian satellite into the space.

of Lithuanian economic, academic,
and cultural life. Kaunas is located at the confluence of the two largest Lithuanian
rivers, the Nemunas and
the Neris.

Kaunas stands in the middle of the Town Hall Square at the heart of the Old Town. The hall
is called "The white swan”. Today it is used
for the wedding ceremonies, official
welcome of city guests, signing of agreements
and official events.
Laisvės alėja (Liberty Avenue)
Laisvės Alėja is a famous pedestrian street in Kaunas. It stretches between the St. Michael the Archangel's Byzantine-style church to the Central Post Office and Tadas Ivanauskas Zoological Museum, around the Kaunas Old Town, the oldest section of Kaunas. For a long time it was the main commercial district of Kaunas.
Old Town of KaunasKaunas Old Town is the oldest part of the town,
located to the east of the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers. There are a lot famous buildings, such as the Castle of Kaunas, also churches, and
museums.
Žalgiris ArenaŽalgiris Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the New Town of Kaunas, Lithuania. It is the largest indoor arena in the Baltics.
World famous artists and bands have already chosen to hold their performances at Žalgiris Arena. It’s also a Home arena to Kaunas BC Žalgiris – the legendary basketball team competing in top-level European Championship.
Me, Dorotėja
My name is Dorotėja. I’m 14 years old. I live in Kaunas, Lithuania. I go to Kaunas “Vyturys” secondary school, 8 grade. Besides learning, I also go to the A. Martinaitis art school. In my free time, I like to read, draw portraits, listen to music and go out with my friends. In the future, I see myself in the Lithuanian Council of Human Rights.
My schoolMy school is called Kaunas “Vyturys” secondary catholic school. It’s also a music school. The headmaster of my school is Aleksandra Bancevičienė. The school is filled with friendly students and clever, professional teachers.
