Double Block and Bleed Valve
Why use a Double Block and Bleed Valve ?
Double Block and Bleed Valves have evolved to replace the process of bolting together individual valves to provide dual isolation
This new assembly provides great saving in weight, space and installation times especially in instrument or instrument cage isolation. These savings can be as much as 60% in weight and studies have shown that a 70% installation time saving is also possible.
However the greatest savings are to be seem in the reduction of leak paths to atmosphere, therefore reducing the risk of the potential hazards this entails.
Dual isolation in a necessary requirement when maintenance is taking place down stream of the first isolation valve. Cavity venting is provided by either a ball or globe OS&Y vent valve so that trapped pressure between the two isolation valves is safety vented.
Theses valves have also evolved to encompass the function of chemical injections (using a suitable quill) and sample points. In-built check valves are often integrated in these valves.

Double Block and Bleed valves for chemical injection and sampling require an additional straight tubing onto the bore of the valve inlet flange face. This quill enters into the process flow and chemicals can be introduced through the valve. Incorporated in the valve design as additional check valve is required for this application in order to prevent reverse flow and process fluid contaminating the chemical source. For sampling the reverse is applied.
Sampling Double Block and Bleed Valves
A process interface valve fitted with an injection probe and a check valve allows fluid to be dispersed into the process stream while providing protection against back flow of process fluids.The sampling valve probe draws process fluid from the flow stream.
Injection Double Block and Bleed Valves
Injection of chemical and other media onto the process stream can be accomplished with this valve design.
The valve inlet houses a one way check valve which opens for injection and goes normally closed to eliminate process fluid outflow.

Applications
UA Monoflanges are designed to replace conventional multiple-valve installations currently in use for interface with pressure measuring systems.By combining customer specified valves into a single manifold, the number of leak paths is considerably reduced and the mass of the system is lowered reducing the stresses from loading and vibration.Additionally, Monoflanges can reduce installation and maintenance times and save weight and compactness.
Used on upstream offshore/onshore Gas and Oil production and initial processing installations. Typically used on gas gauge pressure instrument applications to minimize the size and weight of the pipe-valve assemblies used for primary and/or secondary isolation, vent and calibration.Also used in downstream Oil and Gas refining and Petrochemical production on flanged processes, primarily on light end gas applications.

Designed to replace the traditional primary isolation valve, the Primary Isolation Valve(OS&Y bolted bonnet) incorporates a primary isolate piping valve combined with instrument double block and bleed functions.
Instrument Monoflanges work in conjunction with a pre-installed primary valve to provide a compact instrument block and bleed valve or are used when primary valves with an OS&Y bolted bonnet are not required.
