serious with his stuff and has lost his energy. I love hismusic and I think I always will, but I ‘m not sure if leaving Frozen was the best choice. Guess we’ll nd out soon enou-gh. Thing is, there’s so many great acoustic rockers out there, I don’t know if he’ll make it at something he’snot not even that fammiliar with. I’ll still go to his gigs, I justhope I’ll still want to.”

W hat do the fans think?

“I’ve always been a massive fan ofGeorge Thomas, always will be.If he wants to leave why can’t he?Lets be honest, the rest of the band were average, if I was himI’d leave too. I went to a local ven-ue the other nigue the other night and he was doin’a gig, it was banging. The atmosph-ere was great, real chilled. It seemed

like he was more comfortable on his own, I dunno, more connected with the music. I loved what he was playing andit was only his demo. I reckon he’ll go far, I hope so anyway”

“What a f*cking mug, we’re better without him” said Ed Soles (drummer of the band Frozen) after hearing the news that lead singer George Thomas was leaving for good. Why? You wonder, after all he was incredibly successfulturning the whole image of metal upside down.DoesnDoesn’t that make us wonder though, was he really that good? I mean he sung like a member ofIron Maiden, but looked like elvis before the weight gain . Not to mention his essex charm, he wooed the ladies with poetic lines such as “What are you saying darling?”.

We caught up with him to find out what’s really going on wgoing on with him and his music.

So George tell us, what we all want to know, we did you leave “Frozen”?I’m done with all that screemo crap. Metal music is just too dark for me, it’s more about image and less about music I found.What do you mean too dark?II’ll put it like this. I don’t think metal was ever my thing. The dirty hair, the gothic clothes, it just wasn’t me, it never really was. Then how were you so successful?Well maybe cos I was different. Maybe cos I didn’t t in, I stood out as being… I dunnI dunno, normal (Laughing)How did the others feel about you leaving, that couldn't of gone down well?(Laughing) as you can guess they weren’t over the moon about it, but they’re grown ups, they’ll cope.So I’ve seen you with an acoustic guitar, wh what’s up with that?Well as a kid, I loved stuff by REM and Eric Clapton; John Lennon was God where I grew up. I guess I want to be more like them; they really cared about the music.They did indeed. So when’s the solo album coming out then?(Laughing) s(Laughing) steady on pal, I need to nd my sound rst, I need to rediscover my music.

But you have done some gigs?Yeah I’ve just done some local venues, nothing too big.Performed a couple of things I’ve been working on. It went down alright…I’m glad to hear, no moshpits then?(Laughing) no thank (Laughing) no thank God mate You said earlier metal was too dark, what kinda clothes do you like wearing then?Dunno really I'm more of a casual man, like just jeans and a t-shirt, hoodies. I like my comfy clothes for chilling out.So whats your ideal night out?IIts all about getting some beers, going down the club and that.

Meeting girls by any chance?Its all about the girls man.So are you in a relationship at the moment?No stuff that man.Moving on quickly (George laughs). You have a love affair with twitter and facebook, whats up with th with that?I like to contact my fans, I’m in their debt after all. I also love chatting with my family, especially if i’m away at gigsYou had quite a good upbringing, you came from a rich family didn't you?Yeah they set me up quite nicely. Paid for my guitar lessons and that. TThey've always been inspiration and helpful on my journey.And your brother’s doing alright in music aswell isn’t he?Well not up to my standards, but he’s getting there. Keith is well on his way with his band BLUFF. Is that a metal band by any chance?Unfortunately. But thats been his passion, he’s gunna stickwith it I with it I reckon. But not me as we’ve been chatting about(laughing).One more question George, why did you get into metal if it was never really your thing?Don't get me wrong, I liked the music and thought that I'd give it try. One thing lead to the next and before I kknew it, well I was a hit. I don't regret it though, being involved with metal got me the funding I needed for what I'm doing now.
