Double Page Spread Analysis

The title of this article is extremely disjointed but fits in extremely well with the person who has quite a grungy look.

The set up of this double page spread is not one that is commonly used as there is not much written on the page, it is mostly taken up by the title and image of the artist that it’s about.

The artist who is the main feature is someone who is extremely well known in the music industry, the clothes are quite minimalistic suggesting she is someone who does not care too much about their appearance.

The monochrome colour scheme is something that fits well with the red. The red is used to highlight the key parts of the double page spread such as the name of the artist ‘Lily Allen’ and the writers name.

By having the monochrome with the red, it is aesthetically pleasing rather than something that clashes.

There is a large ‘I’ at the beginning of the article which highlights the start of the article.

The large L which covers the majority of the double page spread article highlights that the article is about Lady Gaga. The colour of the L anchors the logo of Q magazine.

The large S at the start of one of the paragraphs suggests that this is the start of the main part of this article.

At the bottom right hand corner of the page, the logo of the magazine is just visible highlighting what magazine this is.

The left hand side of the double page spread is covered in a picture of Lady Gaga who is wearing extremely garish and provocative clothing which is what she is well known for.

The person in this picture is obviously of high significance as she takes up the majority of the page.

The picture has ben edited into greyscale which makes the picture seem more artistic and classic.

The elegant calligraphic typography is extremely feminine which fits in well with because artist who this involves is a female.

The large USA in the background highlights where she comes from.

The provocative clothing in which she is wearing and the eye contact which she holds with the audience helps to gain more readers. The serious look on her face suggests that she is extremely serious about music.

She is sat on a large USA flag which highlights the patriotism of the artist.

Red is an extremely bold colour and signifies passion and fire which could connote the artists passion for music.
