Page 1: Double Page Spread Analysis

The colour of the font used in my double page spread match the colours on the main composition of my front cover. I did this to maintain the same colour scheme throughout my magazine as both articles are related.

This image uses humour to interact with the reader as the sign reads ‘phones down asses up’ the photo also shows a famous DJ; Heidi who played at the festival. The lighting on this image has a similar glow to the front cover but in a different colour.

The writing on this double page spread is separated into 3 columns per page. This is conventional through all print based media products as it makes the text easier to read.

Another conventional technique that I have used on this double page spread is a key phrase or quote from the text being made bigger than the rest of the text and highlighted in a different colour to make it stand out even more.

I decided to fill half of my double page spread with one large picture, I chose this image as the composition shows the DJ, brand logo and also the crowd having fun suggesting that the festival was a success.

I chose to leave a small margin around the text on this double page spread as I initially planned to add a border to the page but after trying this I thought that the page looked too busy.

I used a black background on this page as it connotes the darkness in a nightclub as well as making the images that I chose stand out more. The text also stands out from the dark background making the magazine easy to read.

I chose not to use page numbers on this double page spread as it would be the very middle page of the magazine meaning it is easy to find for the reader. Any unnecessary features on this page would ruin the clean look that I was aiming to achieve.

Initially I used small purple circles to add detail to the background that would match the colour of the text but when I tried this look it made the text difficult to read.
