THE DOW REPORT TJ Dow • CounCilman, warD 7 summer 2013 • www.clevelandcitycouncil.org Dear Ward 7 Resident: Summer has arrived in Cleveland and things are looking up for our city and our community. Cleveland City Council approved a number of measures this spring which will help benefit Ward 7 in years to come. As a result of the City’s prudent fiscal management, Cleveland will contribute millions of dollars toward maintenance on our Hough recreation centers – Thurgood Marshall and EJ Kovacic (see page 2). Those monies will go towards much needed renovations and repairs at both facilities. We have even more projects in progress and coming soon that will be pivotal to the rejuvenation of Hough and be catalysts for the entire city: The renovation of League Park (see page 3) is becoming a reality. The dirt is turning and work is underway to renovate and redevelop this property. The multi-million dollar Upper Chester District is moving forward (see below). This stellar project will bring both new housing and retail to ward 7. The standout development for the district will be a full service grocery store. Construction has begun on the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center (see page 2). This $3 million facility will service veterans in need of minor outpatient surgeries. I am honored to be a part of a legacy of Council members, like Carrie Cain, David Collier and Fannie Lewis, who fought tirelessly for our community. Their torch has been passed, and it is through our rich history and pride that Hough will rise again. We have quite a lot of work ahead of us, but you will see progress across Ward 7 in the coming summer months. This change cannot come on its own. I need your help in keeping our neighbor- hoods clean and safe. I encourage you to take an active role in your block club and become more visible on your street. Let’s all work together to improve Ward 7. And as always, feel free to contact my office at 216-664-2908 with any questions, comments or concerns. Sincerely, TJ Dow Councilman, Ward 7 Councilman TJ Dow is excited to inform residents that the Upper Chester revitalization project will begin later this year. Dear Ward 7 Resident:Summer has arrived in Cleveland and

things are looking up for our city and our community.

We have even more projects in progress and coming soon that will be pivotal to the rejuvenation of Hough and be catalysts for the entire city:• The renovation of League Park (see

page 3) is becoming a reality. The dirt is turning and work is underway to renovate and redevelop this property.

• The multi-million dollar Upper Chester District is moving forward (see below). This stellar project will bring both new housing and retail to ward 7. The standout development for the district will be a full service grocery store.

• Construction has begun on the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center (see page 2).

I need your help in keeping our neighbor-hoods clean and safe. I encourage you to take an active role in your block club and become more visible on your street. Let’s all work together to improve Ward 7. And as always, feel free to contact my office at 216-664-2908 with any questions, comments or concerns.

Sincerely,

TJ DowCouncilman, Ward 7

and Fannie M. Lewis (1980-2008); Councilman Dow at the League Park groundbreaking ceremony fall 2012.

Councilman Dow is proud to inform residents that construction has begun on the $3 million Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Ward 7. Located between E. 89th

emergency room, nor will it be a trauma center. The

multi-million dollar center will be constructed to

be extremely energy efficient and environmentally

friendly, according to Silver LEED standards and
