• The briefcase is the baton.
• Remember to pass the briefcase to your Leg 2 teammate.
• Take note of the colourof your bib. Your Leg 2 teammate will be waiting for you at the corresponding waiting zone by the Leg changing area.

Leg 2 – THROUGH THE WRINGER
• Run through a “giant wringer” along Chater Road.
• When you are inside the “giant wringer” along Chater Road, don’t push other participants.
• Don’t skip the “giant wringer” along Chater Road – or your team will be given a 30-second time penalty!
• Remember to pass your briefcase to your teammate.

Leg 4 Waiting Area:2/F Landmark Atrium
• Mind your head when you approach the footbridge linking Prince’s Building and Alexandra House.
• Never overtake others while you are on an escalator.
• You must remember three numbers to unlock a combination lock on a container.
• Don’t forget to pick up the Cheese inside the container and put it in a designated collection point before moving on or you will incur a 3-minute time penalty.
• Remember to pass your briefcase to your teammate.

Alexandra House (2/F To 1/F)This escalator will be moving. You must remain on the same step all the way down the escalator or else you may incur a 30-second time penalty!

• Never overtake others while you are on an escalator.
• You must remain on the same step of a moving escalator. Otherwise, you will incur a30-second time penalty.
• Remember to pick up two bandages of different coloursand stick them on the Chinese wok carried by your Leg 5 teammate.
• Remember to pass your briefcase to your teammate.

Moving escalator!This time it is movingupwards.You must remain on thesame step all the way upthe escalator.Otherwise, you may incura 30-second time penalty!
Leg 5 – PICK YOUR PATH

The Rotunda, Exchange Square
Leg 5 – PICK YOUR PATH
• The escalator going up to The Rotunda will be moving. Again, you must remain on the same step all the way up the escalator. Otherwise, you will incur a 30-second time penalty.
• Remember to pick up a wedge of cheese at the Open Plaza.
• Don’t forget to pass through the narrow spaces of a designated walkway and place the cheese at the collection point at The Rotunda according to your team number.

Moving escalator!The escalators are moving downwards. You must remain on the same step all the way down the escalators. Otherwise, you may incur a 30-second time penalty!

Leg 6 – KEEP YOUR COMPOSURE

• Never overtake others while you are on an escalator.
• You must remain on the same step on a moving escalator. Otherwise, you will incur a 30-second time penalty.
• Don't forget to cross the single-plank bridge outside Jardine House or you will incur 30-second time penalty.

Leg 7 – STEP TO SUCCESS
Moving escalator!This time it is moving up.You must remain on thesame step all the way up theescalator.Otherwise, you may incur a30-second time penalty!
• This is the longest of theeight legs.
• You are required to pick up anewspaper and a coffee mug.
• The escalator going up in Jardine House will be moving. Again, you must remain on the same step all the way up the escalator. Otherwise, you will incur a 30-second time penalty.

Leg 8 – TAKE CHARGE
• Please make sure you wear your number bib on the front of your shirt.
• Your bib has a timing chip embedded and is also how your team’s race time will be determined, so please ensure that it is securely fastened.
• You must “drive” a cheese car and navigate through obstacles on Chater Road
• You must step on the timing mat at the finish line to complete the race.
• Don’t forget to return your briefcase at the designated area behind the stage.

• We strongly advise participants to visit the route before the actual race. Remember to read the rules and regulations!
• Please gather at the main stage for the award ceremony by 11:50 a.m.
• Dress Code:

– NGO Rat Race & Junior Rat Race – Creative costumes or sportswear and running shoes.

Beware of glass doors and slippery floor throughout the race
• Adverse Weather Condition & Emergency Contact:
– The CENTRAL Rat Race will be cancelled if the red or black rainstorm signal, or typhoon signal #3 or above, is hoisted on 26th August 2018.
