Downtown Prince George sent a letter to the Mayor & Council to:

• Thank the CPG for facilitating the angle parking on 5th Avenue

• Request further consideration to installing angle parking on other

downtown streets

• Council supports the inclusion of the conversion to angle

parking on 2nd Avenue, 5th Avenue and 7th Avenue in the

Capital Expenditure Program.

• Projected Project Cost of $3million included:

• Partial re-construction of the bulb-outs

• Fire Hydrant re-location

• Street lamp installation

• Planter construction

• Traffic Signal Upgrades

• Increases the number of on-street parking,

• Accommodates faster and easier parking

• Calms traffic by narrowing the street.

• Contributes to creating a better, safer and more

accessible downtown

• Enhance the project on 5th Avenue with the addition of planters and paint

in the bulb out areas in the short-term.

• Commit to and complete the angle parking project on 2nd Avenue and on

7th Avenue.

• Convert 2nd Avenue to a 2 –way street.

• Include four-way stops at the appropriate intersections to provide further

traffic calming.

• Uphold the approved projects in the Capital Expenditure Plan to include

the re-construction of the bulb-outs and the additional construction

activities in the longer term.

That Council direct administration to work with the Province of British Columbia to facilitate the addition of traffic control signals at Queensway and 1st Avenue.
