Introduction

Introduction Divine Principle

Everyone is struggling to attain happiness and avoid misfortune.

From the commonplace affairs of individuals to the great events that shape the course of history, each is at root an expression of the human aspiration for ever greater happiness.

Count Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy Russian: 9 September 1828 – 20 November 1910usually referred to in English as Leo Tolstoy

Russian writer who is regarded as one of the greatest authors of all time.

Born to an aristocratic Russian family in 1828, he is best known for the novels War and Peace (1869) and Anna Karenina (1877), often cited as pinnacles of realist fiction.

He first achieved literary acclaim in his twenties with his semi-autobiographical trilogy, Childhood, Boyhood, and Youth (1852–1856), andSevastopol Sketches (1855), based upon his experiences in the Crimean War.

Tolstoy's fiction includes dozens of short stories and several novellas such asThe Death of Ivan Ilyich, Family Happiness, and Hadji Murad. He also wrote plays and numerous philosophical essays.

In the 1870s Tolstoy experienced a profound moral crisis, followed by what he regarded as an equally profound spiritual awakening, as outlined in his non-fiction work A Confession.

His literal interpretation of the ethical teachings of Jesus, centering on the Sermon on the Mount, caused him to become a fervent Christian anarchist and pacifist.

Tolstoy's ideas on nonviolent resistance, expressed in such works as The Kingdom of God Is Within You, were to have a profound impact on such pivotal 20th-century figures as Mohandas Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and James Bevel.

Tolstoy also became a dedicated advocate of Georgism, the economic philosophy of Henry George, which he incorporated into his writing, particularly Resurrection.

All the great writers of Russian literature discussed themes dealing with the purpose of man and the understanding of human life.

In 1881 Leo Tolstoy completed his Confession, in which he honestly and sincerely tried to describe his own life's path.

Tolstoy's spiritual search can help us to think about our own life, to see how important and difficult this search is.

Coming to the end of our discussion about the search for meaning, let us try to follow this path together with Tolstoy, especially because in Confession we can see those stages of self-understanding that can be found to some extent in every person's life.

When talking about his childhood, Tolstoy emphasizes that his outlook inherited from his parents was not truly his own:

"I had never believed very seriously but had merely trusted in what I was taught and in what was professed by my elders."

Childhood is followed by the teenage years, when one often rejects one's previous childish beliefs.

The soul awakens; one faces the questions about the meaning of everything for the first time. "I ceased to believe in what I was told in my childhood, but I believed in something ....

Now, looking back at that time, I can clearly see that the only real faith I had was a belief in perfection. But what this perfection consisted of, and what its aim was, were unclear to me."

Years pass.

They encompass Tolstoy's participation in the war, his coming back to St. Petersburg, and the start of his career as a writer.

"During this time I began to write out of vanity, self-interest and pride. In order to achieve the fame and money for which I wrote, I had to conceal what was good in myself and display what was bad. And this is what I did."

Many people follow such a path.

Having entered a profession and achieved a certain position in society, they accept blindly the existing norms and rules and never doubt them.

The thought of excluding oneself from the general rhythm of life is too frightening to do otherwise.

But Tolstoy didn't merely start to have doubts; step by step he came to a state of deep personal crisis.

And what is even more amazing, it happened when his talent was blossoming, when he was at the peak of his success as a writer.

(Perhaps it's not so wise to believe that external success guarantees peace of mind.)

All this was happening to me at a time when I was surrounded on all sides by what is considered complete happiness.

I had a kind, loving and beloved wife, lovely children, and a large estate that was growing and expanding with no effort on my part.

Relatives and friends respected me far more than ever before.

I was praised by strangers and could consider myself a celebrity without deceiving myself ....

And in this state I reached the point where I didn't want to live ....

I couldn't give any reason either to any of my actions or to my life in general. ...

What will come out of my life?

What should I live for, why should I desire anything, why should I do anything? ...

And I started to look for answers to my questions in all the knowledge that people gained.

I was searching passionately, not out of mere curiosity, not casually, but was searching desperately for days and nights as the one who is about to die searches for salvation.

Tolstoy describes how first his desperate search for meaning led him to the realm of empirical knowledge, and then to the realm of philosophy, and nowhere did he find an answer.

Was there any meaning to life?

I searched through human knowledge for an answer to this question, which is the same whatever way it is expressed.

I found that according to their relation to the question, all branches of human knowledge are divided, almost into two opposite hemispheres ....

One branch of knowledge does not even seem to acknowledge the question and yet gives clear and precise answers to its own independently posed questions:

This is the realm of empirical knowledge. The other realm of knowledge recognizes the question but does not answer it.

This is the sphere of speculative philosophy. Empirical disciplines ignore the questions of life.

They say: "As for what you are and why you live, we have no answers and do not involve ourselves with it.

On the other hand, if you need to know about the laws governing light, or about chemical combinations, or about the laws governing the development of organisms, then we have clear, precise and irrefutable answers to all this .... "

And whenever the other side of knowledge, the speculative realm, sticks firmly to its principles and gives direct answers to the question, it has always, throughout the ages, given the same answer:

The universe is something infinite and incomprehensible.

Man's life is an inscrutable part of this inscrutable whole ... and instead of an answer all one gets is the same question, only put in a more complicated form.

The agony of his search for meaning brought Tolstoy to the brink of suicide, and it is faith that helped him to come back to life - that very faith that he had rejected in childhood.

Young Tolstoy

In addition to rational knowledge, which I hitherto thought to be the only knowledge, I was inevitably led to acknowledge that there does exist another kind of knowledge – an irrational one – possessed by humanity as a whole: faith, which affords the possibility of living ....

Faith is the force of life. If one lives, he believes in something .... One cannot live without faith.

I understood that I had lost my way and how I lost it.

I lost my way not so much because my thinking was wrong, but because my life was evil.

I realized that in order to understand the meaning of life, one needs to lead a life that is not meaningless and evil, and only then to apply the intellect so as to understand it ....

I looked at myself and at what was going on inside me.

I recalled the hundreds of occasions when life had died within me only to be reborn.

I remembered that I only lived during those times when I believed in God.

What are these deaths and rebirths?

It is clear that I do not live when I lose belief in God's existence, and I should have killed myself long ago, were it not for a dim hope of finding Him.

I live truly only when I am conscious of Him and seek Him.

What, then, is it you are seeking? asked a voice inside me.

There He is! He, without whom it is impossible to live.

To know God and to live are one and the same thing.

God is life.

Live in search of God and there will be no life without God!

And more powerfully than ever before, everything within and around me came to light, and the light has not deserted me since.

And I was saved from suicide.

This was not the end, but only the beginning of a new stage in Tolstoy's search for meaning.

It's not necessary to expect that our own spiritual search will lead us to the same answers as those of Tolstoy.

The most important thing is to search for our own way.

Christianity is a religion of love.

It strives through love and sacrifice to open the path to restore the horizontal relationships of give and take between people in the love of Christ.

On this horizontal foundation of love, the way is opened to restore our vertical relationship of give and take with God.

In truth, this was the main purpose of all the teachings and deeds of Jesus.

For example, Jesus said:

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. -Matt. 7:1-2 CEV|KJ|NI

So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets. -Matt.7:12 CEV|KJ|NI

So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven. -Matt. 10:32 CEV|KJ|NI

He who receives a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. -Matt. 10:41 CEV|KJ|NI

And whoever gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward. -Matt. 10:42CEV|KJ|NI

Non-violent resistance to evil

Among Russian thinkers who taught the principle of non-violent resistance to evil, Leo Tolstoy has a special position.

Here is how he expressed his views on this issue in the book Way of Life, which he wrote during the last year of his life: The teaching of non-violent resistance to evil is not some new law; it only indicates the mistake people make when falling away from the law of love; it only indicates that any permission of violence against neighbor for the sake of revenge or in order to save oneself or one's neighbor from evil is incompatible with love.

No violence can bring peace to man, it will only irritate him. And that's why it is obvious that only non-violence can change the lives of people. The false assumption that some people can fix the lives of other people by violence is especially harmful, because those who follow this assumption cease to differentiate between good and evil. If there was raised a question, what is the way to free oneself completely from any moral responsibility so that one would act in the most evil way without feeling any guilt, then there would be no better means than the prejudice that violence can bring happiness to people.

It's difficult to argue with these words.

At the same time, all of us understand that it is one thing to preach just and noble principles, and another to put them into practice.

There is an inevitable question: Is it possible to follow noble ideals and bring about real change, not only in one's own life but also in a society in which injustice rules?

In our century, two men who were deeply influenced by the writings of Leo Tolstoy, one an Indian and the other a black American, led movements to bring about change without the use of violence.

One, Mohandas Gandhi, led the movement that won his country's independence.

The other, Martin Luther King Jr., inspired a movement for civil rights. Neither lived by the sword, but both were assassinated.

Still, the changes they helped to bring about have had a profound, lasting and beneficial impact on their societies.

Art and Ethics

Art is a form of dominion over the creation.

Dominion over the creation, from the original standpoint, is intended to be carried out only by those who have reached perfection after passing through the growth process, which includes the three stages of Formation, Growth, and Completion.

Perfection means the perfection of love and the perfection of personality.

Therefore, one is meant, first, to become an ethical person, and upon that foundation, to have dominion over all things.

This means that an artist should also be an ethical person.

Let us think about the relationship between ethics and art from the perspective of the relationship between love and beauty.

Love is an emotional force that the subject gives to the object, and beauty is an emotional stimulation that the subject receives from the object.

Thus, love and beauty are so closely related that they are like the two sides of a coin.

Hence, we can understand that ethics, which deals with love, and art, which deals with beauty, are inseparably related.

When we look at art and ethics in this way, we come to the conclusion that true beauty is established on the basis of true love.

Up to the present, however, such has not been the case with artists.

It is because there was no firm philosophical statement that artists must also be ethical.

Accordingly, even though many artists, especially writers, have dealt with love as their theme, in most cases the love they dealt with was the non-principled love of the fallen world.

There were writers who expressed true love.

Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) was one of them.

While exposing fallen life in the upper class of Russian society of his time, he expressed true love.

That is to say, while employing realism to express reality, he employed the style of idealism, pursuing the ideal. However, there have been few artists, like Tolstoy, who engaged in creative activity while pursuing true love.

Source: http://www.tparents.org/Library/Unification/Books/Euth/Euth07-07.htm

Let us consider Gorky and Tolstoy, two writers who were totally different in style, though both of them condemned the corruption of Russian society before the Revolution in the same way and in almost the same period.

Gorky conformed with Communism, which sought to overthrow capitalism violently, and asserted that the mission of the artist lies in inspiring revolutions.

Thus, he wrote works that glorified the revolutionary movement. Mother by Gorky has been regarded as a literary masterpiece of socialist realism.

It depicts the image of a mother, who was an uneducated working woman, being gradually awakened to the class nature of society from a desire to protect her only son, who had been thrown into prison on charges of revolutionary activities.

Finally, she herself becomes an active participant in the revolutionary movement.

On the other hand, while condemning social evils, Tolstoy advocated that the way to resolve them lay in the recovery of true human nature through love.

The universe was created after the pattern of a human being, who is in the image of God’s dual characteristics (p. 45).

One of Tolstoy's masterpieces is Resurrection.

An aristocratic young man, appearing in court as a member of a jury, knows that a young woman whom he had seduced in a mistake of his younger days had become degraded and is right then being judged.

He becomes conscience-stricken, repents and makes up his mind to save her.

Finally, she is rehabilitated, and the young man also starts a new life.

The way Gorky chose was the external way of social revolution, whereas the way Tolstoy chose was the internal way of spiritual revolution.

Which was the correct way?

The way of violent revolution that Gorky chose was the wrong way, as the realities of today's socialist society-including oppression of human nature and corruption of bureaucrats-indicates.

On the other hand, the way Tolstoy chose was the true way, in that it was the way to recover human nature.

It must be pointed out, however, that it still had its limits in saving society as a whole.

Here, Unification Thought pursues the way for both humankind and society to be reformed as the humankind and society originally intended.

This becomes possible by correctly understanding God. In other words, by knowing correctly the attributes of God, who created humankind and the world, we can learn the ideal state of human beings and society as they were originally intended.

All that must be done is to reform humankind and society in that direction.

The new art advocated by Unification Thought is Unificationism, in which idealism and realism are unified, centering on God's Heart (love).

Unificationism seeks to reform reality toward the original ideal of humankind and society.

5) Rev 12:5

She brought forth a male child (New Adam), one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne.

The Jesus of Galilee will not return - it is not necessary.

The Christ who manifested through him is the Eternal – he will manifest again.

Mr. Moon in deep meditation can project himself and be seen just as Jesus has been able to project himself and be seen by the saints.

This is one of the marks - of the messiahs always.

This is the end of an age, and the battle that is raging is really Armageddon.

It's a battle between the selfish, brutal men who do not think in terms of God or things which are associated with that word - against those peoples who will be the harbingers of the New Age.

You are now in the new Age - and old things are being destroyed - and new things - which are eternal but which are new only because mankind has now reached the point where it is able to recognize them and use them.

'From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force. /Mathew 11:12

The revelators seldom live to see their revelations widely accepted. But they do always draw to them – and leave behind them – a group who continue the revelation.

But it is not likely that everyone will accept it, because it needs education and it will take time. Nobody can give away perfection.

Perfection was the ideal, and perfection was mans goal from the beginning, but man choose himself to loose that perfection, and she must now choose to return to it.

Mr. Moon reminded me that in the Book of Revelation there is a picture of the New Jerusalem, the Holy City, coming down out of the heavens. And there was a door on the east and a door on the south, a door on the north and a door on the west –

and when the teacher comes, he always has to come through the eastern gate. In the Holy City of Jerusalem there is an eastern gate long since sealed and blocked. It will never be opened until the new teacher comes.

The Hebrew name of the Golden Gate is Sha'ar HaRachamim (), Gate of Mercy. In Jewish sources the eastern gate of the Temple compound is called the Shushan Gate. If the Golden Gate does preserve the location of the Shushan Gate, which is only a presumption with no archaeological proof, this would make it the oldest of the current gates in Jerusalem's Old City Walls.

According to Jewish tradition, the Shekhinah )ivine Presence) used to appear through the eastern Gate, and will appear again when the Anointed One (Messiah) comes (Ezekiel 44:1–3)

Comment : Divine Principle claims Messiah comes from the East, Korea!

I can only repeat the vision of John, that when the New Age comes, the Eastern Gate will open, and not only man - but Revelation (and Messianic HEALING as at the time of Jesus) – will flow out of that gate. /Ford-Fletcher

But you cannot expect the message to be accepted immediately by vast numbers of people only those who are ready and who are willing to listen and to whom this particular message seems to be right and meaningful.

That is the way that all the world teachers have had to go.

And remember one thing only, that if it is of God, it can not fail. And it is of God. /Arthur Ford sitting 1965

'WHO IS HE? A BOOK OF PROPHECY' by independent journalist Mr Ku Sung Mo

After 20 years of studying prophecy by many Korean prophets throughout the ages Mr Ku concludes that someone must come to Korea as the second coming of Buddha, Christ or Confucius.

He writes quite directly that Sun Myung Moonis the one.

Chapter 2 - The Korean Books Of Prophecy

A white cross, a great heavenly way that unifies Confucianism, Buddhism, Christianity and all other religions into one.

He will come April year (2000-2001) or 2024-2025 (Moon Calendar).

Believe in God (this is the teaching of the holy man who came from Heaven).

The fortune of this Messiah is as the coming of Buddha (Second Coming of Buddha to this world). When this time arrives, the entire world will be in chaos. Fire will fly and fall to the ground and the world will become hopelessly confused.

There will be no place for even one evil spirit to reside in the new world.

The whole world will be unified and once again return to the original point.

The families who read these messages are the blessed ones.

FIND THE SAVIOUR

Within four years or thirty years (1998-2028) there will be a final showdown between this Holy man and evil. He will start doing his work in the centre of Yong San. He is the one who came here to do God's will. Who is he?

Two saints will be sent the first will be the false one. The second will be true and have the name Moon.

FIND THE SAVIOUR

Only the ones with (spiritual) eyes will be able to recognise him.

He will be born in North Korea. He will marry many young people and go through many persecutions.

Who else can it be other than the Rev Sun Myung Moon.

"When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of that old Negro spiritual,

"Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we are free at last!“

2003

A prophecy

I would like to ask you to take deep interest in the prophecy that I am about to make.

Humankind is at a turning point.

This era is that long-awaited time in which the power of God will become manifest in our lives, even though He is invisible and has seemed almost powerless and nonexistent in the past.

In Order To Realize the World Of PeaceRev. Sun Myung Moon

February 6, 2003

2003

The time has come when the absolute power of God, who is the Lord of the holy order and laws which really do exist in all things and in the universe, will manifest in amazing ways and be experienced by people in their daily lives.

2003

In this way, humankind will naturally experience the laws of the universe, and become true people through a clear change in character.

Through this, people will learn that the existing order of the universe and the relationships of humankind were not made to be centered on oneself or self-interest; rather, they were made to live for the sake of others altruistically.

I have already proclaimed that

January 13, 2013 (Moon Cal.) = February 22, 2013 (Solar Calendar) will be “Foundation Day.”

That day will be the actual beginning of God’s Kingdom of Cheon Il Guk.

FinalProphecyfor 2013

Therefore, it is time for all people to be humbly obedient to Heaven’s decree. An unavoidable time is upon us today when we must invest ourselves completely with a life or death commitment for these remaining three years under the guidance of the True Parents who carry out the providence on earth as the substantial representatives of God, the King of Kings.

All the good spirits in the spirit world are mobilized and are already moving forward, a step ahead of you.

Amen&

Aju! (2006)

I am working hard to send my anointed representatives to all nations. The era in which they live is one in which mistakes such as that of John the Baptist will never be repeated.

Unlike Jesus, whose time ended abruptly through his going the way of the cross, I surely will complete the restoration of God's homeland on this earth, as I have received Heaven's seal as the King of Peace.

With God and the King of Peace as the central axis, I shall lead the anointed representatives sent throughout the world and so create the original ideal kingdom of everlasting peace. /Book 13 Peace Messages

According to the Buddhist scriptures, Udumbara is an imaginary flower that only blossoms every 3000 years when the King of Falun comes to the human world.

This heavenly flower is a sign of rare preciousness and a miracle.

Summary:

Prophecies are not for the purpose of the satisfaction of human curiosity, rather to prepare us for the future.

Mans 5% + Gods 95% = 100 % Fulfillment of Gods Will!Be Responsible – Witness - Do Good! – Live for Others

We are at the center of the providence. On us it depends whether we will bring blessing or curs in our future. 5%/5%

So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail;but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!”

/Gamaliel, a teacher of the Law held in honor by all the people

/Acts of the Apostles, chapt 5, vers 34-42

Conclusion: Let Gamaliels word of 2000 years today again ring true in our modern time.

if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail;but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them.

It is the Word of the Lord of the Second Advent that convince Future Mankind that Christ has come!
