BobbyLooking at the image, the first thing that came to my mind is the unfortunate loss of innocence. Violence is subtly shown in your photo. I feel that this photo speaks the truth on why conflict exists. We give the children the idea of conflict.

ChhandakInnocence and violence are antithetical. Yet for children living in conflict zones they are the sides of the same coin. This photo from Kashmir shows how years of violence can entrench the message of violence in the collective psyche of the masses

BobbyIn my city, there are also children that are victims of violence. Economic deprivation is a form of violence that has its origins in conflicts of not their doings. I see the children as the ultimate victim. Chhandak

Getting used to human suffering is an unfortunate side effect of living amidst suffering. We often forget that poverty is a form of violence. If not direct, it tacitly encourages violence. And as with any form of violence children get affected the most.

ChhandakAs a response to your image of despair I present an image that to me represents the resilience of the enduring human spirit, Poverty or opulence, life goes on…

BobbyWhen I look at this photo, I see the optimism in their eyes. This is such a calm photo and the ambient light adds drama to that optimism. The road ahead is quite difficult; nonetheless, the enduring human spirit will carry them through.

BobbyI took this photo of the muddy road on my way to surigao del sur, a province in the northeast part of Mindanao. This road leads directly to the mining site that the communist attacked Monday last week. Along this road, the trials and suffering will test the human spirit. Chhandak

Borrowing the words from Alexander Pope-“Hope springs eternal in the human breast: Man never is, but always To be Blest.”

BobbyThe man carries something that is his source for income. This signifies the dignity. No matter how hard the road maybe, we will learn to carry on and persevere.

ChhandakOn the enterprise of life, moving on is essential. This rickshaw-puller from Kolkata, India toils the streets everyday pulling his carriage laden with people. But he has a dignity. Unlike a beggar he earns his keep.

BobbyThis is an on-going construction of a flyover in my city. I feel the road ahead is still under construction. Life is always a constant journey, of which the most important part is the lessons we learned.

ChhandakOn the journey of life we often hit roadblocks. Trials teach us. And with each experience we grow wiser. This image for me marks the wisdom that we earn as a result of our experiments with the suffering.
