Ain Shams University Hospitals
Ain Shams University, established in 1950, it is the third oldest university in Egypt, the university includes 15 faculties and 2 high institutes. It includes more than 180,000 students, 5,000 staff members, 4,000 assistant staff and more than 100 centers and special units.
The university since its inception in the mid-last century has struggled with all its strength to activate resources and capability and enrich the experiences of students.
Ain Shams University Hospitals (Demerdash) were established in 1928. Faculty of Medicine was established in 1947, and was called the Medical College Demerdash. It was affiliated with the University Fuad I (Cairo University now), and then annexed to the Ain Shams University in 1950 to be the third medical school in Egypt.
The faculty has 2808 staff members, and 1002 of the assistants who work in 34 departments (10 academic, and 24 clinical). It employs more than 10,000 employees. During the academic year 2011-2012, number of students enrolled in college to get the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery is 6657 student, and 3038 for post graduate studies.
It is located on an area of 24 acres, and includes approximately 3,200 beds serving about one million patients annually.

APHP – HEGP, Tenon, Henri Mondor
APHP (Assistance Publique-Hôptaux de Paris), the largest University
Hospitals center in Europe employing more than 90,000 professionals, is the University Hospital of Ile de France. It provides community care to the most serious, rare diseases and emergencies. APHP annually meet the need of millions of patients. It trains thousands of professionals and conducts numerous research projects and teaching that are shaping the future of medicine.
7 million patients treated in 2011. More than 2,700 research projects in progress. 3,000 internal and 13,000 medical students and allied health. At the heart of an area of 12 million, the APHP offers a network of 37
hospitals in 12 hospital groups together. All disciplines and medical specialties are exercised.
The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Department at HEGP (founded by prof.
Alain Carpentier, prof. Fabiani, prof. Marc Riquet) is one of the busiest in the whole of Europe conducting complex cardiovascular and thoracic procedures (especially lung cancer, and Airway Surgery), Heart and Lung Transplantations, extensive VATS interventions. It is an international referral center for the most complicated and redo surgeries.
The Thoracic Department of Hospital Tenon is well known of its speciality
in the Superior Sulcus Tumours, VATS procedures especially the surgery of pneumothorax.
Henri Mondor Hospital, a sophisticated center, is well known for its Heart
transplantations, RVAD, LVAD, BVAD, Aortic and arch surgery.

Nasser Institute For Research and Treatment
Nasser Institute has a very strategic position in Cairo looking directly over The River Nile. Nasser Institute was opened in July 1987. It resides over an area over 104.000 sq.m (about 24 acres). It has 8 stores, 850 beds. Six to eight daily cardiothoracic interventions are carried out.

Thoracic Surgery
Main Surgeon in carrying out all pulmonary resections, decortications, thoracoscopies (VATS), mediastinoscopies, thoracoplasties and lymph node biopsies with special interest in airway and tracheal surgery.
Rigid bronchoscopy, and esophagoscopy for FB inhalation, or ingestion in
children, and adults. Chest trauma intervention.
Harvesting of pulmonary allografts for Lung Transplantation
Assistance in Lung Transplantation with and without cardiopulmonary
bypass Introduction of chest drain and its follow up.
Full Surgical Responsibility of the Thoracic intensive care unit.

Participation in teaching medical students, and house officers during my

patients in the wards, clinics and in theatre.

surgery principles

Personal skills: well known to work co-operatively with others, broad-

Aims and Career Objectives
Aiming of innovating and improving the international patient service level
in all aspects of thoracic surgery with special interest in the field of
Tracheal Surgery.
Aiming of achieving an international rank for my country Egypt in the field
of research and health service standard with a special interest to serve the
low level socioeconomic community and alleviating the pain and suffer of
my patients.
Wishing to assist in the improvement of communication skills of all my
candidates and trainees.
Wishing to achieve the goals and fully satisfy the needs of my employers
and hospitals and show self-motivation and competence throughout my
career.
