Other Research Projects
10. Green Synthesis of silver nanoparticles from Mangifera indica leaf extract and its anticancer potential.
Anoop Narayanan V, Rani Jacob, B Dineshkumar,
Status: Comepleted
“Silver nano particles yielded from the reduction of silver nitrate in solution. The reaction was carried
out by aqueous extract of Mango leaves, where magiferin and other antioxidants serve as a reducing
agent. Careful optimization of reaction conditions were demanded during the study. Nanoparticles were
characterised and purified.”
11. Curcumin Nanohydrogel by EPAS Technique For Cutaneous Candidiasis.
Anoop Narayanan V, Rani Jacob, B Dineshkumar, K Krishnakumar
Status: Comepleted
“Nano precipiates of curcumin was produced by evaporative precipitation of ethanolic solution of
curcumin. The nano suspension resulted were stabilized by various surfactants at different
concentrations. After micromeritic charactarization they were encorporated into hydrogel matrix
forming a nano hydrogel of curcumin. The preparation was found highly effective against Candida
albicans in in vitro conditions.”
12. Development of Curcumin Buccal Patches for Oral Candidiasis.
Anoop Narayanan V, Shameema Banu
Status: Comepleted
“The study attempted to develop a very useful method of administering curcumin locally in the buccal
cavity owing to its proven antifungal activity. Buccal patches were developed which were proven to
inhibit the growth of Candida albicans in laboratory conditions. The release of drug from the patches
was carefully optimized for an extended duration of time. A simpler yet innovative method was tried to
study the mechanical strength of the patches.”
13. Fast dissolving tablets of Granisetron HCl.
Status: Comepleted
“Fast dissolving tablets, which could dissolve in mouth were developed. The tables contained an anti
emetic granisetron which is often used in control of nausea and emesis in cancer chemotherapy.
Formulations were evaluated for its suitability in treating patients with dysphagia.”
14. Design and development of an immediate release tablet for generic market
Status: Comepleted (For Cadila Pharma, Ahmedabad, 2013)
“Immediate release tablets (IR) of Fexofenadine was formulated for regulatory submission into German
market. The study was carried out in collaboration with the formulation scientist of Cadila Pharma,
Ahmedabad. The formulations employed recent technologies and techniques, and were successfully
processed for regulatory submission.”
15. Formulation and Evaluation of Fast Dissolving Tablets of an Antidepressant Drug
Status: Comepleted (Presented in International conference on drug delivery 2010. Coimbatore)
“Antidepressant drug paroxetine HCl was formulated in to a mouth dissolving tablet. The tables were
suitable for easy administration of the drug in psychiatric non cooperative patients. Fomulation was
sweet in taste with out any obnoxious odour, dissolved in invitro conditions in 20 seconds.”
16. Hepatoprotective Effect of Solanum trilobatum In Ground Nut Fed Albino Mice
Status: Comepleted (Presented in IPA students congress 2009, Bangalore)
“Solanum trilobatum is used in treatment of fatty liver in traditional medicines. The study aimed to
verify the claim scientifically by using suitable animal models. Fatty liver was induced in adult male
albino mice by feeding them with high amounts of ground nut and coconut gratings. SGOT and SGPT
levels were monitored continuously. On administration of plant extract animals showed a recovery from
the above stated pathological condition.”
17. Developed aqueous based film coating for commercial herbal tablets
Status: Comepleted (For Cosmovision Herbals India Ltd. Thrissur, 2007)
“Excisting non aqueous coating technology for commercial tablets (Radix, Thermodium, Natpol) were
replaced with a new aqueous film coating technique. HPMC film coating offered more safety form
residuant solvents and were more cost effective since costlier solvents (IsopPropyl Alcohol, Methylene
Chloride) were eliminated.”
Ongoing Research Projects
18. Synthesis of gold nanoparticles using biomaterials like egg membrane.
19. Development of a Herbal anti-lice shampoo and hair gel
20. Drug coated metal nanoparticles for potent biological activity and targeting
21. Mouth disintegrating controlled release systems
22. Proneosomal tablet systems for improved bioavailability of highly lipophilic drugs
