Challenges
Challenges I
Language is the most difficult problem.
Some fellows have difficulties to understand
English medical terminology.
- Teaching session on English medical terminology
was arranged. 2017.7-8
Challenges II
Fellows do not have Korean license that they
usually are not directly involved in clinical
practice.
D,D.S. Amphayvanh (Fellow of 2016)
Challenges III
Clinical Training of Dr. LJW-Seoul Project is on
Subspecialty level.
- Some of Lao fellows (General Physicians, not Specialists)
- Level of pre-training experience may not
be enough.
Discrepancy in situation is expected between the
training experience in Korea, and Laos on return.
Future Plans
Dr. LJW-Seoul Project is mainly for health professionals in central level.
But our fellows should be able to
Contribute to the general health of Laos !
- Better education to their students
- Providing good and practical TOT programs for
provincial health personnel.
- Development of innovative new programs.
- etc.
Education Workshop on

Organized by Dr. Latdavanh (Fellow of 2015) and was supported by PICU/NICU,
Mahosot Hospital in August 15-16, 2016.
It was timely since Lao government provided respirators to the hospitals before the
workshop period.
This year, 2nd workshop on mechanical ventilation was also held.
Education Workshops on
(Dental Fields)
Pediatric Dentistry Workshop (2017.6.6-8)Organized by D.D.S. Amphayvanh (Fellow of 2016) Fellow
Workshop for Root Canal Procedure and Orofacial Radiology (2016.12.6-10) organized by D.D.S. Alouna (Fellow of 2015) and Souksida (Fellow of 2014)
Publication of Journals
It is essential to have own journals for improving
academic achievements.
Lao Medical Journal is the only official journal in Laos.
We would like to support
- publishing “Lao Pediatric Journal” for instance.
- It may be practical to start with Case reports, Review articles.
We think e-publication using Lao Space is a possible
option.
This activity should be initiated by Lao Colleagues to
be successful.
