Monitoring and analyzing financial stability issues in European, Central
Asian and Middle Eastern regions and providing policy and technical advice to
authorities and IMF teams in these regions in collaboration with other
technical divisions in MCM.
Reviewing and assessing the financial sector issues (prior conditions and
benchmarks) in IMF programs.
Leading Financial Sector Assessment Programs (FSAPs) and Technical
Assistance (TA) missions; initiating and overseeing staff research and
other projects; liaising with other units of MCM, the IMF and national
authorities; overseeing the development of information systems; planning
and financing TA; and fostering staff.
Actively involved in research projects related to the impact of the global
crisis, financial stability,stress testing, Islamic finance and macroprudential
policy framework.

As a desk economist for Kuwait and a member of varying country teams
(Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman and Syria), contributed to economic reports for

frequent missions to the client country and extensive quantitative

choice, exchange rate assessment, inflation, and financial sector issues in

Main responsibilities:
Advising the Governor and his deputies on issues related to banking and
banking supervision.
Actively involved in defining a strategy to upgrade the supervision in the
Banking Supervision Department (BSD) and setting the work plan for that.
Actively involved in the resolution of problem banks. Work involved the
preparation of a strategy for their resolution, reviewing the MOUs of
merger and setting the elements of the final agreements with the
receiving banks.
Actively involved in drafting and negotiating Memorandums of
Understanding (MoUs) with other supervisory authorities inside and
outside Jordan in issues related to cross-border supervision, sharing of
supervisory information and cooperation.
Working with the BSD in developing an Early Warning System for the
Jordanian banking system. Work involved defining the variables to be used
in the system and building the econometric framework.
Preparing suggested framework for the Central Bank of Jordan's risk
management system.
Supervising the BSD work on the adoption of a prompt corrective action
framework, a civil money penalties system, universal banking, and Basel
II.

Main responsibilities:
Analyzing macro and prudential indicators for the banking system in
Jordan. Work involved defining a set of prudential and macroeconomic
indicators that could be used to assess potential vulnerabilities in the
financial system, in addition to undertaking sectoral analysis and stress
testing.
Assisting in initial work for developing an Early Warning System for the
Jordanian banking system. Work involved defining the variables to be used
in the system, chairing the committee chartered to build the database,
and suggesting an econometric analysis framework.
Actively involved in the resolution of problem banks. Work involved
undertaking the main responsibility for the evaluation of the conditions of
problem banks and the preparation of a strategy for their resolution.

Main responsibilities:
Financial sector analysis. Work involved preparing periodic reports to the
CBJ management summarizing the trend in the main financial and
macroeconomic variables and the aggregate prudential indicators.

semi-annual and annual financial analysis of banks’ financial positions and
prudential indicators based on their financial statements. Preparing policy
and background papers on bank merger, liquidation, licensing, and
branching.
