INTRODUCTION
Montessori education is an internationally recognised pedagogical approach. Current
scientific research continues to validate this educational method as a set of elements that
help children to holistically develop their mind, body and emotions.
The International Montessori Institute (IMI) teaches the principles and educational practice
of Montessori education and current scientific evidence to provide specific professional
training proposals that help to improve the quality of education in schools.
At our training center we provide the tools to allow teachers to successfully implement
Montessori education in the classroom.
THE CENTER AND ITS TRAINERS
International Montessori Institute (IMI) is a Montessori training centre with a clear
objective: to provide classic and rigorous Montessori training based on the original
resources of Dr. Maria Montessori and adapted to contemporary educational needs.
Our trainers have been carefully selected due to their extensive international experience,
both in private and in public schools, with the objective of transmitting all of the richness
of the Montessori method to different social spheres.
This interesting combination of trainers makes the IMI a unique Montessori meeting point
and establishes an inter-Montessori dialogue that ensures consistency with the ideas of Dr.
Maria Montessori.
Our goal is to ensure that students taking our training acquire all the necessary tools for
the successful implementation of the Montessori method in the classroom.

OUR TRAINERS
The objective of our center is to provide classic and rigorous Montessori training based on
the original resources of Dr. Maria Montessori and adapted to contemporary educational
needs.
Dr. Maria Montessori founded both the Opera Nazionale Montessori (ONM, Rome) and the
Association Montessori Internationale (AMI, Amsterdam); being both centers the followers
of her work during the last century.
Some members of both associations worked together with the Dr. Montessori, learning
directly from her and developing the Montessori Method in Italy, the Netherlands and
many other countries around the world.
IMI's goal is to bring together Italian and Anglo-Saxon training traditions and unify both
knowledge in an educational center, in order to offer a training based on the legac of Dr.

STUDY PROGRAM
PRACTICAL LIFE
Montessori Practice
Dr. Montessori offers Practical Life activities as a bridge between home and the school
environment.
These activities allow a holistic development of mind, body and emotions.
Motor coordination, development of autonomy, adaptation to the environment and
concentration skills that lay the foundation for all later learning.
The future teachers will learn to prepare and present these concepts in detail.
The first thing to understand about Practical Life exercises is that their goal is not practical. The
emphasis should not be placed on the term "practical" but "life". Their goal, like that of all other
activities that are presented to the child in the prepared environment, is to help development.”
Dr. Maria Montessori
SENSORIAL MATERIAL
Dr. Montessori considered the sensorial materials authentic "keys of the universe" as
they exercise what is the mind’s powerhouse at this age: the senses.
The scientific design of sensory materials makes them a genuine development aid.
The students explore them in detail in order to fully utilise their potential.
“There is nothing in the mind that was not first in the senses”
Aristotle
LANGUAGE
Language is the focus of community life and learning.
Oral language plays an essential role in Montessori environments from the beginning
and gradually, literacy is introduced naturally and spontaneously.
In Montessori education, the language is intertwined with all other areas of learning.

mathematical abstraction.
All activities and presentations necessary to provide children with a solid mathematical
foundation.
“The human mind is mathematical in nature”
Blaise Pascal
CULTURAL AREAS
Encourage children’s curiosity about the natural and cultural world around them.
Significant experience as the basis of scientific discovery.
Develop a deep respect for the humanity as a whole and for nature.
History, geography, biology, art and music as an interrelated whole.
"We are now concerned not so much with science as with the interests of the human race and
culture, which has only one nation – the world.” –
Dr. Maria Montessori
OBSERVATION TECHNIQUES
Montessori education has been developed from scientific observation of children’s
nature.
Learn the importance of training this skill on which is based the management of a
prepared environment in a Montessori classroom.
