● Influenced the upgrading of petrol blending online analysers from traditional analysers to a chemometric based MRA.

Page 5: Dr Mark Hodgkinson Resume small size

● Led the leveraging of the MRA so as be a world first in certifying product (petrol) release with a MRA.

● Achieved accreditation of the refineries to the ISO 9001 -2000 with its emphasis on “System Thinking”, “A Process Approach” and Improvement tools and techniques.

● Published the Caltex System Frame work.● Incorporated the Chevron Operational Excellence Management System into the

Caltex System Framework.● Implemented a portal based Refinery Information System to bring data and

information into context.  This system was awarded the 2006 best practice prize and is still a world leader.

● Implemented an automatic exception monitoring tool within the Refinery Information System.

● Implemented Handheld computer devices for operators to replace paper clip boards.

● Implemented a Governance System based on management review of a formal active monitoring program.

● Influenced senior leadership to adopt management systems at both refineries in scope (Lytton and Kurnell)

This presentation gives a good overview of the work conducted in this Refinery Information System project.(see attachment in same directory)

Period:               2001-2004                                   Company:              Caltex Refinery Position Title              Standardisation Team Leader Key Tasks/Achievements:

● Changed the accountability for accuracy of the online analysers from the Instrument Group to the Laboratory.

● Led a team of operators, engineers and maintenance technicians to standardise operator and engineer routine duties to best practice.  The project was highly successful in reducing loss and contributing to much improved operational discipline in Lytton refinery.  There was heavy emphasis on audit, metrics, and review.

● Implemented Online Certification of LPG and Diesel Cloud Point.
